Game crashes after choosing "Find Servers"

Hi Guys,

I have a problem and I appreciate your help !

I bought the game over Steam and I've just finished d/l it.

After I launch the game I try to choose some option on the menu and the game crashes with the following error:

"hl2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience.".

I'm running the game on my Laptop which supposed to run it like I read.
here are the specs:
Genuine Intel(R) CPU 1.60GHz
1GB of Ram
(Shitty video card) Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family
Win XP

I've already tried to launch with the following options:
-safe -safemode
-dxlevel 81
and I updated my video card drivers and downloaded dx 9.

I had a mistake with the Video Card..
It's 945GM
and not 954GM like I wrote before..

I also tries to install the game again.
maybe the laptop just not supposed to run the game. :|

that video card isnt utterly horrible. i would say its your cpu.

the new source engine uses much more cpu and i believe the minimum is 2.0ghz
