All right, I'll start off with system specs.
Dell XPS 400
Windows XP Media Center Edition
Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE - 512 MB, 32-bit
1 GB (1022 MB) RAM
DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) installed
Now, my problem is, I'm trying to play my Source games. Everything's pretty fine, but within two to ten minutes of play, Source randomly crashes and gives me the following error:
"Failed to lock index buffer in CMeshDX8::LockIndexBuffer"
In order to get my Source games to work, I am forced to use the "-dxlevel 70" command in the launch options, which drastically lowers the graphics since it plays the game at DirectX 7.0. It makes it hard especially to play the Source mod Dystopia, since that game makes use of many graphical enhancements that are simply essential to gameplay, yet are not supported in DirectX 7.0.
I've searched the error on the Steam knowledge base and Google, as well as here at HalfLife2.net. The only solutions I can find are for people using ATI graphics cards, and as you can see I'm using an Nvidia card.
I can find no solutions to my problem, but maybe someone here can help me out...?
I appreciate any help, and hope someone can find a solution to my problem.
