Okay so i was playing along fine counterstrike and half life 2 were working great then all of a sudden the game freezes and rashes and i get an insuffcient memory error i had 256, so i say hey why not upgrade so i go out and buy a 512 card to add to my unit. after installing the memory i am pumped to play hl2 again. however now it just crashes once it gets to the loading screen sometimes it'll make a sound but no error screen and other times it will just take me back to the desktop. PLEASE help i've treid uninstalling and reinstalling already. i don;t know what else could be causing this.

gordon freeman runs fine and i don;t have any other games installed on here at the moment i can't even get to the set up screen to change any settings

setting heapsize to ½ ur ram might help
in game properties, in launch options, set it to something like
-heapsize 256000 might help, HL2 and CS: Source use 64MB of memory by default.
i installed hl2 when my system had a Radeon 9550, i fried it, and then installed a 9800Pro, and the recommended settings are still the same, but runs fine when i set higher. maybe hl2 doesnt detect hardware changes.

i can't get into game properties. it won;t even load to the main menu screen. i couldn't find a folder called game properties either. What the heck is goiong on!

gop to steam, then right click on the game, then click "launch options". then enter in what he said.

(tell me if i'm wrong, plz)
