I get to the same loading point on water hazard and the game exits to main menu. The bit after falling chimney when you enter another set of pipes.

I have re-downloaded half-life 2 content.gcf. It still doesnt work anything else i can download again?

I get the same problem where it exits to the main menu at the second load point in the game! Then if I try and load a game or anything from there, it just crashes to the desktop with the memory error that everyone seems to be having.
I did notice in the console the following each time it happens:

Initializing renderer...
Spawn Server d1_trainstation_03: [landmark_trainstation_02-03]
Begin loading faces (loads materials)

Host_Error: Mod_LoadFaces: bad texinfo number

And then it drops out to the menu. I have tried removing all the steam and halflife files and redownloading all to no avail. This is starting to really get on my nerves. Only game I've ever had that didn't work for at least more than 2 minutes of gametime! :frown:

Have any of you figured out what causes this yet?

I'm getting the error:
Host_Error: Mod_LoadFaces: bad texinfo number

When I try to load a custom map I created? Anybody know what this means?

My game also returns to the main menu after a couple successful loads. I will have just left the terminal, climbed the ladder to get over a fence, gone down a sidewalk past a playground and turned left just past the slide to go into a building. Once around the corner it begins loading and returns me to the main menu. Up until that time (admittedly brief) the game seems to run fine, none of the stuttering I'm reading about and the loading times aren't that long. The computer is Windows 98SE, AMD 1900XP, 512 RAM, GeForce3. I have the newest nvidia drivers and have tried older ones - going back one version at a time. Vivendi support suggested selective startup, loading the system.ini file only with no effect, then they said run in low video mode and finally reducing hardware acceleration, again nada. Now they don't respond to e-mails.
