Game graphics troubles

I've been playing HL2 for quite a long time with no troubles.
All of a sudden this started happening. Any idea why?
I restart the game and things go fine for a while then it
starts happening again.
Radeon 9600 128mb
1gb ram
AMD Athlon 3200+

But first validate your .GCF files to make sure they're good:

Also make sure that your video card is not overheating.

how do I know if my video card is overheating or not?

There are a few programs out there that can help but that's if your video card has a temperature monitor.

Um, if the problem I'm seeing (your pics of the saved files all screwed) is what you're asking about, I really don't see a problem there... the pics are just messed up.

the pics screwing up like that isnt a overheating problem its just messed up pics

If its only on the pictures, don't worry about them, they don't have much of an effect on anything, except to help you better understand where your save game is...If its in the game, then you've got problems...

It happens during the game. My gravity gun looks like that...plus other items as well.
