Game not responding when trying to connect to server

Hi, I just bought the Half-life 2 Game of the Year Edition and it included Counter-Strike Source. At first, Counter-Strike was great but then a few days later, the game kept of stop-responding half of the time I try to connect to a server. I don't know if this a problem on my computer or if it is a common problem but if you you guys can help, please do
