It's time to open the polls to the game of the month. Please vote for which game you would like to see played first. Once the polling is closed I will edit this thread to go over the rules, I will also add in who is all participating (please post your interest). I suppose you don't need to tell me if you want to be involved, but I think it would help.

Would a mod please lock the other thread I made? I may still need to go back to it, though.

Poll will close on Friday August 7

edit: Please dont vote unless you are participating btw! thanks

Super Bomberman, the only game in the list I've played aside from Super Mario World.

Well, since Super R-type seems out of the question, I'm gonna go with R-Type 3, since I like SHMUP games.

Well, Honestly I thought they were the same thing...but apparently not ;(...Guess it's too late to make that change

Super Bomberman cause i've played the Sega version and i've never played a snes game.

Someone would have to explain to me what the metric of competition would be for Super Mario World before I would agree to that. Voting R-Type.

super metroid but it's not on the list

Out of those I only own Super Mario World and Super R-Type, and I've never gotten pat like level two on R-Type so I voted SMW. :P

But how are we going to compete in SMW??? Time ourselves with a stopwatch to get to 101*? Try to beat the game without partaking in any of the ridiculous number of ways to earn 1-ups?

Unless we come up with a legitimate way to base a scoring system off the points which is fair, we might have to scrap super mario world...

We could do a speed run for Super Mario World where the fastest one to complete it with the least amount of lives lost wins.

Eh but what are we going to do, post videos? and that would take easily up to more than likely several hours. I doubt that many people would be willing to go through all the hassle to try and sit through the whole smw game. It's hard enough to sit through the game in one sitting. You know?

omg Super Star Wars was an unexpected pain in the ass! We played that game for a full day and hardly got past the first few levels.

Well as you can see super mario world is the winner. I really wasn't thinking when I added it as an option when someone suggested it, because it's practically impossible to accumulate points since you pretty much can't get a game over (too easy to gain extra lives). So we can either...

-Do a time trial (which I really don't favor, since the point behind this contest was for high scores, not a more complicated to record time attack)
-Scrap this vote and go with the 2nd place game (This could piss off the majority of the people who voted for super mario world)

I leave suggestions open to the floor...if nothing gets resolved I'll make a decision on what were gonna do.

I don't think I've played Super Bomberman (only the second game), but I'd play it.

lol newb.

Super Star Wars was easy. You haven't been a gamer for very long have you?

What are you participating in if you vote?

Edit: Oh nevermind. It is over.

Dude we were what -- ten? And rented it for an afternoon? Cut me some slack! And I'll give you a freebie this one time for such an unkind comment. Next time I'm driving this contest out to Mars Matrix or Ikaruga territory!

What is happening with this GOTM thing? Are we going to do this or what?

Well ok, I'll cut you some slack since I was actually a bit older when that game was released.

The suggestion was you see how many points you can accumulate with one life. Death equals a self-enforced game-over.

I like this suggestion. Let's get a couple more people to aggree/make other suggestions then we can get it started.

Number of levels you complete before dying?

By the way, some inspiration ... All except two are 1-up tricks I never knew of

Besides, there are countless ways you could exploit point totals in that game, similar to 1-up tricks.
