anyone have a Official repley from Gabe on how big the
will be. i bet its 3 gigs
 
It Is Most likely 3 Gigs. Shouldnt be anything under 3 gigs.
 
It is going to be big, as it is reportedly 3-4 CD's just to install it. I will be buying the DVD edition...
 
Its going to be on a dvd too???!?!?! I didn't know that. Will they be clearly marked which are dvd and which are regular cd? I am wondering this because my bro will be picking up my copy and he might get confused so I want to enlighten him.
 
i think something was mentioned somewhere about the size bcause off all the extra sounds and high res textures, i think it was minimum 3 cd's

There Will Be One DVD Limited Edition

FYI:

Capital letters go at the start of a sentence. And after a full stop. They also sometimes appear during the middle of a sentence if it's a:
  • Name e.g: (Gabe Newell)

Nothing official yet, they just said it'd be damn big. This concerns me greatly as I'm still on 56k, what about mods? They're gonna be like 500mb each :'(
 
There will be some small mods... but, yeah... 56k will be a pain in the ass for downloading medium/large HL2 mods.
 
Who the hell is still on 56k these days? I'd given up on teh interweb if I had been on 56k all this time. I'd have been long gone, playing soccer outside or something.
 
I have cable that gets 2Mbps/384Kbps (Down/Up)... but I can remember what 56k was like, even though I ditched it 4 years ago.

Ahh... the not so good old days...

YEAH LONG LIVE THE 5 1/4 " FLOPPIES! oh wait, they have been dead for a decade now.

3 discs sounds reasonable... Though maybe another one for the SDK, depends how big it is (shouldnt be very big though). Problem is, my hardrive is only 2gb in size ;(

I'm sure there will be small mods. The one in my sig will be :)
I have a roof of 8mb, but I think its gonna be more like 2mb, and if one ace it it might fit (not counting any new levels). Roof might change obviously, but I dont think the core dlls or vehicle scripts are that large for HL2.

I think it will come as a book. The book will have a whole lot of stuff. First it will have the story, and then it'll teack you how to code. then it will tell you how to do the art, and have a description of the levels look like. then you can compile it all and have HL2! :cheers:

It's the internet, and presentation should be considered. Not using capitals, improper spellings and bad grammar make you look sloppy and uneducated. It's also alot easier to read rather than these awful "ur" and "u" substitutes.
 
It will be at least 3 CDs. I bet they can fit it all on a DVD though. When will people stop buying CD-ROMs so we can all go to DVD? They can store SO MUCH more data.........

I wasn't exactly flaming him, just pointing out something. Bad grammar and spelling are two of my pet peeves.
