i used to be getting the error "this game is currently unavailable" i tried lots and lots of stuff ever since HL2 was first released, first i logged out and exited steam and then i scanned my pc for spyware and viruses, i then went into my steam folder and deleted the clientregistery.blob thing then restarted my pc and started steam, double clicked HL2 expecting it to have the same error and it worked
so maybe just try that its a great game and hl getting it to work
