Games Do Not Launch

Recently I got a new 250 gig harddrive, and I figured to coronate the occasion I'd buy the Half Life 2 Holiday pack. I run the installation of all the games included, and I'm totally psyched to get into some Counter Strike and HL2 Deathmatch. Though after the games finish installation and updating, I find only two games from the compilation actually launch. Half Life 2 and Half Life: Source work just fine but the other two, including Lost Coast, make it just past the small launching window. After that absolutely nothing happens at all, as though I never launched or even installed the games.

So I've uninstalled and reinstalled each of the unworking games, and even then try reinstalling Steam. I'm at a loss here, I've done everything and despite my supposed prowess behind this keyboard, I can do nothing. Can someone help?

Have you tried verifying the game files? (I don't know how, someone on this forum will though.)

How many times have you tried launching the game? I launch sometimes, the window appears telling me its about to open, then closes and nothing happens. I do it again, and it works.

If by verify the game files you mean check the integrity of the game's cache, then yeah I've done that. Also every now again in between whatever I'm doing, for kicks I'll just click on Counter Strike or Lost Coast just to see it fail.

Im having the sasme problem but only half life 2 wont launch but cs:s and hl2dm works. I bought the pack mainly for the single player but thats the only thing that doesnt work.
