Live on Vista is very much like Live on the Xbox 360. The Vista service shares the same gamertag and gamerscore profiles used in the Live service on the 360. Users on both platforms can monitor each other through the friends list, exchange messages, send game invites, and play against each other in cross-platform enabled games such as Shadowrun and Uno. Halo 2 for Vista won't support cross-platform gameplay. According to Kevin, the Windows version has new content such as new maps not available in the Xbox version that would unbalance gameplay.

Microsoft hasn't announced how it will handle Live subscriptions on Windows Vista, but Kevin did tell us that they understand that desktop PC users and console users are accustomed to different subscription options.

Well, Live is great and all for the Xbox and the 360, but I've already got great options for online play on my PC without having even more Microsoft intrusion.

QFT. And when I do get a 360, it will not be for the online capabilities and its communication with my PC. I understand they are trying to do something good with Vista and Live Anywhere and such, but they are gimping the hell out of the usability of the OS. (see this article for more on how Vista/Games for Windows blows.)
