Gamespot GOTY 2007

Gamespot sucks.

Meh. How sad. Crysis is winning.
 
Yea I was looking at that UT3 score as well. UT3 is like Quake 4, when speaking about the MP. It's buggy as hell etc. By the time they fix all the problems the scene has already died.

UT was nothing but downhill after they brought in vehicles (warfare sucks........)
 
I can't believe there are 10000 people out there with rigs capable of running Crysis, let alone loving it....
 
UT3 is meh. It's only so popular because it's the only fast-paced, competition-styled online game that's actually alive at the moment. Bring on Quake Zero.
Loved Call of Duty 4, it's the first singleplayer game I've really got into since Neverwinter Nights 2. Not played Bioshock or Crysis, mind. They need to hurry up and release Mass Effect on PC.
 
Why even list The Simpsons Game??

How could that ever win GOTY?
 
I voted Orange box because Portal was the best game out this year.
 
UT3 is a joke, cant believe i wasted money on that shit. Voted for Orange Box because together all those games out do it all, even tho Mass Effect, BioShock, COD4 and a honorable mention of Assassins Creed are right behind.
 
Portal, Team Fortress 2, and Episode 2 all could take GOTY in my opinion. A $40 box that includes all three of those games knocks all those ****** ass games off the list.
 
I voted for Orange Box, but it was so hard not voting for SMG.

Also I'd take Crysis as GOTY over Halo 3. So I'm at least thankful for that.
 
Definitely surprised to see UT3 doing so well, but the other positions make sense. Well, not Crysis, but that is a predictable winner regardless.
 
Well I'd say crysis has at least a chance compared to tabula rasa, DBZ 3, Kane and lynch simpsons game etc.

Also it's winning O_O. I personally want orange box to win but I voted bioshock as it's my second choice and is more likely to win. But crysis? GOTY?

OMG!! I didn't notice UT3's score. I thought everyone hated UT3 compared to 2004 and said it had problems like lag and bugs? I haven't actually played it but that's what i've heard.
 
So GameSpot bases its GOTY award on popularity? Isn't there an editors choice or something?

Although I suppose Editor's Choice would be Orange Box. I mean Kane and Lynch.
 
I always thought it was decide by the GS team but now I don't know.

Forget the bugs, man. Any multiplayer game has to be judged on its potential, rather than its state at release. Two years after Quake III was released, nobody played it in its original form - but today the game is still more popular than all the other Quake games and the previous versions of UT put together.
It's a decent game, and in its genre it currently has no competition...it's just...not Quake.

isnt supposed to be so awsome that shooting a plant feels like having sex whit angelina jolie,jessica alba ,eva longoria and the cheerleaders of a nfl team,all at the same time while covered in chocolate?

UT3 is no GOTY, but it's not nearly as bad as everyone says. I really have no idea why everyone hates it. As a fast paced multiplayer carnage fest, it's pretty much perfect. I'm talking about the core gameplay, not insignificant stuff like the menus and crosshair customization.

It's pretty much perfect if you haven't played Quake 3 or Quake 4. :D

Actually the biggest problem I have with UT3, besides the way overpowered shock combo and minigun, and the fact that it's not Quake, is the maps. Previous UT games had some amazing and iconic maps, everything in UT3 is just a bit "meh".
 
As Metroid Prime 3 is the only one I have played, I was legally obligated to vote for it. I need more games:(

UT3 is fun enough... I mean, driving a strider is totally cool. It's not something that deserves game of the year by any stretch of the imagination, though...

As I said in the other GOTY thread... Portal! I didn't even want to play it at first but it ended up slapping me in the face and being the best game I've played all year.

UT is not Quake and will never be. Personally I hate Quake, in fact I'm shit at Quake. Give me 5v5 UT CTF anyday.

Why the big deal? "Cast your vote in the poll below for the Game Watch '07 game you think lived up to the hype--and which of them you think will have the strongest showing in our upcoming full awards".

Though i really don't see how games like Hellgate London lived to anything.
