Gamespot has just changed their HL2 release date from TBA to ..........

THe release date for HL2 on gamespot hs been TBA for a long time now , but i checked it today and its now september 1'st , i really think that means something.

I think Sept 1'st sounds very realistic , since Gabe said he will send the game to vivienda in augest.

EB games has had 1st of September for awhile now, but i think they're just doing it as a good estimation based off the recent news from Gabe.

I'll only think it suspicious when several retailers simultaneously change to a specific date like September 10th, like what has happened with Doom 3.

they're just estimating it really doesn't mean much of anything, eb games and gamestop and wal-mart have had dates for the game for about a month now, so it's really just speculation

Why bother changing it from "To Be Announced" to "September 1st" if nothing actually has been announced?

It's a good estimate because it represents the complete earliest the game will be out. Sometime in September is the way to go.

i think if people expect the game to come out on sept 30 they wont be dissappointed. theres a chance it could be releases early which would just be a pleasant surprise if your expecting a sept 30th release.

No, I think he's talking about the latest version, that was announced Gold in November or December and released in like March. They didn't actually change the game in between those times. You're thinking of the one that was going to be released mid-2003, but then Valve handed it over to Turtlehead Studios and told them to make a better one. As far as we can tell, they did actually sit on it for ages.

it would be a bad maerketing strategy to release it anywhere near sept. 30th., the same way its would be bad to release some kinda bombing or hijacking movie on sept. 11th. any smart business knows this.

Is anyone else thinking that they might have kicked it up a knotch? If they dont have a release date in mind why would gabe say the languages wont be done more than likely? Valves original plan was to release them all at the same time right? So could it be the english half-life 2 could go gold asap?
