We posted earlier about the hands-on preview that IGN GameSpy had written, but it appears as though GameSpot has had the opportunity to play the game too. You can see their opinions of it right here.

I got this from IGN.

In addition to the dramatic in-game music, you'll be able to play your own .mp3 files while gunning down aliens, so you can rock out to Opeth or perhaps class up your experience a bit with some Bach or Vivaldi. Allowing any .mp3s in the game isn't just for your aural pleasure, though. As Doug explains it, "It's also a great way to allow both ourselves and the mod makers to use music and sound in multiplayer, whereas traditionally .wav files that I used in the first game or Redbook audio were pulled off the disc, and used mainly in the single-player experience."

Now, that is a good thing, playing you own music is always a good thing.

the article seemed a bit negative for the worst reasons, maybe that's just me.

Hmm. When the game comes out, I'm expected a few bad reviews because of stupidly high expectations.

Half-LIfe 2 is similar to Half-Life? GASP. How shocking. I don't know about you, but I kinda enjoyed the single player of Half-Life. I mean, that's why I'm so excited about the sequel.

The Buggy in Half-Life is similar to driving the Buggy in Farcry? I couldn't see what the writer was getting at here. Woah! It's like they are similar vehicles or something.

Those were only the two silly points I saw, the other ones could be valid. Maybe.

Gamespot tried to make an impartial looking preview...so, but infact it's not, because thet chose the pessimist's side
