Gamespot's New BF2 Preview

woot !!! want game now !
from all games coming this game i WILL PLAY for some time :)

i realy hope for demo soon .....

that looks soo sweet!

im worried that it will do the freezing thing that hl2 does though. Just once i want a game to work properly on my pc :(

wow, damn it looks so nice.... a headset in every box... wow, they're really stressing VOIP, which is awesome, dial-up need not apply

I'm still psyched about having online rankings and such. I can't wait for this :)

Great read; thanks for the heads-up. The included headset is pretty cool. It won't be the best quality prolly, but still. I really have to get my own game-room now. The gf won't like me screaming "Airstrike, airstrike!" or something along those lines.

looks really good ...but I'm a bit weary since BF vietnam ..played it only a handful of times ...just cant pinpoint what's wrong with it (besides the constant lag, bugs etc)

Exactly. To be perfectly honest it doesn't look like they changed the game play at all; in fact doesn't look much different than BF Vietnam :( .

Comes with a headset ?...sweet!, more people using voice the better :D

I don't understand the problems people have with Battlefield Vietnam. The vanilla-version leaved much to be desired, true, but fairly quickly -especially for EA standards- the 1.01 patch was released, which fixed most of the most of the immediate problems. After 1.1 it's all been smooth fragging for me. Testament to that is that I still play the game almost daily. WoW had me completely captured for a while, but now I'm again a regular on the Jolt UK servers (Hastings only, War is Hell) and EAUK19.

i can already see my gig of ram getting sucked dry playing this game.

I'd read up on it a little more then, or watch some of the video. They've really gone in a totally different direction with this one. The closest thing would be DC, but to the 10nth power.

I did read up and the features look promising, however, EA has disappointed me extremely with Vietnam and looking at the screenshots it looks like this might disappoint me too. I will still probably buy it but I wouldn't be suprised if I came out disappointed. If you look at the first person view it looks like they didn't change the engine much in the physics department which will be a shame as the physics quite frankly sucked the last 2 times. The levels are still huge and it seems like action will be rare. I hope I am wrong.

lol thinking the same thing

I thought this game was going to be much like BFV for awhile, but this has changed my opinion drastically. Even if the only difference is better graphics, new weapons, and VOIP that will still justify my 50 (60-70?) dollar purchase. The extras are just icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned, especially the new scoreboard/stats deal. When you get down to it though, how different was BFV to BF42? Not much of a difference, both are still great games, just different themes and different graphics. I admit I dont play BFV anymore, I dont play many games anymore though. I just play some RTS games and CSS.

BF:V was made by a different team within DICE than the team responsible for BF:1942. The original team behind BF:1942 are the ones working on BF2 so hopefully they will return the series to its former glory (I did'nt care for BF:V much either).

I'll of course respect your opinion, but it seems like DICE has been listening to the fans this time around (although the European team has always had a good track record for that), and have stated very plainly that they don't want these problems to come back. Thus they've come up with the mapsize ratcheting system to keep the map appropriate for the number of players, while the videos also show some very well tuned ground combat and the new addition of iron sights. So far they seem to have a good grasp on what they're doing.

Mic in every box? About ****ing time, good bye xbox live.
