Gamespy hosts 'Official' Screenshots.

banning gamespy doesn't sound like such a bad idea.

EDIT: they seem much better, but the question is, have gamespy resized them or have the other sources resized them.

These look much better. The resolution makes a difference.

These look so much better than the PCZ shots as they are at the actual resolution.

Oh and that railyard pick is fcking amazing, give me that over Doom3 any day.

Jeebus christ! ALOT better! and HDR seems to be on by judging for pic nr 3. This game is so gonna rock everything that's out there.

I notice they have added weapon shadows, is that a recent addition?

yay very cool:)

the higher res makes it look tons better.....cant wait for e3 :D

/me wishes PCzone was sold in the US

so the screenshots are simply resized and now they look great? haha "OH NOES TEH GRAFIX IS FUXD!!" "oh wait the screenshots were just too large, but now that they're shrunk down i cant make out the little details like i could in the other screens so now they're better!! HURRAY!"

It will be stupid to assume that these aren't official. I mean, Valve have the ability to give out screenshots to sites as well as print mags.

Its that the resolution is better. It gives you a better idea of what the game will actually look like.

wow.....they look very differant when you see the high quality ones....

The reason they were so large, is cause they need to be enlarged for print magazines to use them properly, The site that originaly posted the large images has since removed them cause they are breaching copyright or some shiz like that, there not meant for online distribution, the gamespy ones have been obtained legally and are smaller because thats how there meant to be seen on ur monitor.

Granted there are still a few little graphical issues here and there but at the correct size and when in motion they really wont be an issue with most people.

Anyway, shutsup

meeeehhhhhhhhhh.. /me points to the "Why do the new shots look bad?" thread and cries

They're all the same bloody pictures but squashed down and resized to give it the impression that everything's smoother. They're all nicked from one certain site who really shouldn't of had them in the first place.

Those shots were probably given to all the sites a day in advance to be posted when the NDA was lifted. How hl2.de got them, I don't know.. but, I doubt all the sites simply copied them from an unofficial source

Well I'm thinking that the smaller images are the way they are intended. I doubt gamespy would just squash some high res images to make things look better. Clearly, all the other screens are just enlarged versions of these, and that super-sizing damaged the image quality.

Noone was given them, they were leaked and everyone decided to jump on the bandwagon and post them.

And you know this.. how? Are you "in the loop," as they say?

Erm, is this certain?

I mean, sites got pictures last year, didn't they?

A quote from PHL: "We are waiting on the go-ahead to post the pictures ourselves (politics, eh?). Assuming it happens in good order, we will be bringing you the full-sized (1370x772) pics shortly."

rofl how many damn posts are there about these fricking things, there all different res, some have aa some dont, some look finished some dont, id say there all just a big pile of random stuff from valves archive, no one said it was the latest build of the engine, 1 could be from last weak, 1 could be from 2 years ago, who knows who cares, i wanna see the game in action at E3 playing live (even if its just demos).

Everyone is so happy.

New pics Old info Everybody is hyped again.........

I've never been impressed with Screenshots of Half-Life 2. Even the first ones out. Now, the videos did REALLY impress me.

I'm really hoping for new videos.

I would have to agree. Screenshots never really impress me that much, save for some rare exceptions. Usually I'd rather have one good video instead of a dozen screenshots.

As I noted in the mag thread, after comparing these to other screens in games in gaming magazines, they actually look pretty standard even next to Stalker and Far Cry. For some reason they just don't look as good as the best HL2 shots, the best Stalker shots, and the best Far Cry shots. They look like the shots that appear in PCGamer, no matter what the game.

I still think the detail model grass and ground textures look ass ugly.
