i was a little disapointed with killzone, only getting 1%.

the xbox results seem to be ontrack, with halo2, fable, ninja gaiden and kotor 2 all up there

i can't believe vampires was rated so highly .. but i guess there haven't been too many pc rpg this year.

i hate rome, but pirates!, battle for middle earth and rise of nations were in the top so i'm happy.

pc action seems fine

i thought myst 4 would've won adventure, but it still did good.

i was a little suprised with the hl2dm/cs:s win.

Well no surprises that GTA:SA and Halo 2 took out their categories
I can't believe the best strategy game of the year got last, ground control 2 is a great game.
HL2 well pretty obvious, Doom 3 coming 2nd is a bit surprising seeing as though bashing Doom 3 is the new cool.
Trackmania got last also which is sad. CS:S /HL2DM won MP game which is rather impressive, UT2k4 probably deserves it just through content.
Overall, well HL2 no real surprise but Doom 3 got 3rd. Rather impressive feat.

Of course you've got to wonder about these polls, recently released games always poll wonderfully, and I know it's not practical to do GOTY 2004 a few months into 2005 but Gamespot is. Not that I respect them.

And once again Joint Operations remain the underdog of multiplayer gaming... There must be so many BF style games supporting 150 player per server its just one in the crowd

It's all good, but HL2M and CS:S really shouldn't have won. Don't get me wrong - I love the games, but UT2k4 was so much more of a complete package, whereas the former two were practically just tossed out haphazardly.

but this awards are more oriented to PC,for example it hav "best PC TPG""best Pc action adventure game" and whit the consoles is just "best PS2 game""best Xbox game" they should make more categories whit the consoles like they do whit PC

Glad to see Rome: Total War getting the win it really deserves. We all knew Half-Life 2 would win its category, but I would have thought UT2k4 might have got a larger percentage of the votes. Ah well, I still love it.

I've been away a lot generally, exams to revise for unfortunately. I'll be back more around mid-January.

I agree with most of them except for the PS2 awards. MGS3 is a superior game to GTA:SA, probably my favorite game of all time. But it's not surprising that SA won, it's a lot more mainstream.

They seemed to be pretty on track though, except that HL2 shouldn't have one best multiplayer. CS is a very old game and HL2DM isn't anything too special.

Not happy to see WoW lost so horribly to HL2 in the overall pc results. Not that HL2 is bad, but I'd like to see more people appreciate the greatness that is WoW. At least a narrow loss margin would've been better.

I'm not. Its probably one of the only games I'd rate higher than Half-Life 2. Its just has the freedom and immersion and uses some of the best storytelling bits of the Source engine really well. There were a few bumpy bits I'll agree but it is a solid game.
And as far as the Leopald crash goes, they did have a solution out within a few hours or so. So when I encountered it I could just go, oh right and fix it.

But I spent so much time on that game it's insane.
