From the 15th May a source has claimed that retailer GameStop will start selling Steam vouchers in their stores. The vouchers appear to just be virtual currency cards probably with keys to register with your account adding the funds to your 'Steam Wallet'.
Although most of us may have paypal or credit cards bound to their Steam accounts (bad idea during the christmas sales right?) and can simply buy games or add credit to our accounts, vouchers are ideal for younger gamers with no direct purchasing power and could further extend Steam's reach.
GameStop previously ventured into digital distribution buying Impulse many years back but it has failed to capture a significant market share. The move to support Steam (if true) could be seen as an admission of defeat by earning just a small percentage from voucher sales. In these tough economic times for retailers, beggars can't be choosers. Kotaku.
