I suppose I play to many video games. I feel as if they are more of a chore than of any real enjoyment anymore :\

...then what's the point...?

Though I know how you feel. There's something about the whole thing about buying the newest "awesome" games - most of them really aren't that great.

Customization is the key! Consoles can't offer the same opportunity as a mod package for a PC game can. On a console you have to jump through the designers' hoops and puzzles, but modding breaks the boredom. That's most of why its so popular.

I friends always think I'm weird because I get so excited while palying even though my score sucks. I'd say something like "Whoa did you seee that? That was awesome." and they'd reply "Yea, but your score sucks." I play games to have fun, which is rare among players these days. I don't care what my score is, infact I never hit tab to check. Its all a factor of how much fun I'm havin, if its no fun you won't find me playin it and thats that. It bothers me though when people join a game and start raggin on people because their score sucks. They tend to bring everyone in the server down and piss them off, you guys know the people I'm talkin about. They're the ones who see the game as work and not as a game. I love it when something cool happens in a game, like the way a person dies or when someone gets a really nice shot. It gets me excited and I just want to play more. I feel Half-Life 2 is gonna totally blow me away. Its the first multiplayer game with Ragdolling and physics that I will most likely enjoy. Either it or one of Mods is gonna be so fun because the sheer amount of coolness that will come out of it.

Exactly. I'm not going to watch my health or ammo much when I play HL2. I'm just going to plunge in and go guns blazing - let the world and it's emergent interactivity take over.

I love eye candy because it really stimulates my senses and gets me pumped. When thats mixed with kick ass action and and cool physics and stuff I can sit there forever emerged in its greatness. That is why I can't wait for HL2. I must add sound plays a major part in games for me. I love games where the guns sound cool and the especially when the sound of the bullets hitting people sounds cool. I like my guns to be loud so naturally I stay away from silencers. Over all, nice game play + interactivity + physics + nice graphics + cool sounds = a good game for me.

Whoa, did I type that? :D
Nah, much too long, but it's my exact thoughts!

I only check my score in cs, because I feel that I play it enough to do decently

I have found myself in the same rut, 1 out of every 10 games I play I enjoy, the other 9 bore me to death and feel like a chore..

Go figure, I know this won't be the case with HL2, though :)

There are so many games out there that I enjoy, but only for maybe half of the game. Then repeatition takes over and I get bored with it. I rarely finish games all the way through, because games rarely make things interesting 10, 20, or 30 hours into it. The only game I've recently played all the way through was Prince of Persia. With all the combinations of moves, and the excellent level design, it was like each stage was a new puzzle to solve. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

In multiplayer games I just like to have fun, although more often than not doing well and having a good score is more fun for me than doing badly. I always try to complete games, but then I'm a completist. Any game with any kind of secrets I'll play it till I find them. As for enjoying games...well, I have never ever bought a game that I didn't enjoy. But then again I only ever buy games I enjoy.

My weak point is that I buy games, just to play something new. Most of the games I buy turns out to be "not my cup o' tee"
