Gang war mod

Anybody else think that a gang war modification would fit righ in? I think it'd be awesome flying through the streets of Compton or Chicago (mafia anyone?) in an old Toyota truck, with an engineer in the bed firing RPG's at a police Stryker following. And then think of all the urban warefare possibilities! Pulling into a garage, then blasting out the door with a grenade and turning it into a makeshift Hospital.

Anybody else think that the BF2 engine would be just perfect for that? The intense infantry combat, the awesome vehicle handling, and the intense car battles.
 
yeah, that does sound excellent.
Im thinking the particle engine is pretty powerful (given all the awesome stuff in BF2) hopefully the editor will be easy enough to manipulate to create some really cool looking stuff...

oh like molotov cocktails and stuff.
 
I never noticed the particles till you mentioned that. The haze you get when caught in the middle of an artillery strike is incredible.

And the lighting engine is amazing! Those of you who chose the medic unlock, check out your L8A5 under some variable light next time you're playing. The lighting on the textures is amazing!

the Haze is a shader effect, (like the water is) Particles are things like Explosions, dust kicking up behind vehicles, sparks, smoke, splashes, bullets kicking up grass/dirt/mud/water etc.

basically what makes the engine looks so cool.

Haha. By haze I meant the dust settling around you after the shit hits the fan.

I still don't know if I know what i'm talking about. Hehe.

I would love to see something like command and conquer, (there are mods doing it too... but they don't look that great) and the commander be just that, a commander, no spawning in as an infantry. and you build stuff, harvest (with bots), and have research trees.... then you finally get to build a super weapon like nukes and ion cannons.

screw artillery, give me the big guns baby.

that would rule.

you could have engineers who could capture buildings and make them yours (using like an engy flag system) so you would have to protect engineers as they captured a building...

or you could just blow the building up with a spec-ops, or steal their money or... it's just too cool
 
That sounds like an awesome idea, but I think that the whole commander aspect would need to be toned down allitle. If it were like you said, I think we'd be getting too many issues with commanders trying to get their squads to follow orders, since now the squads would be comprised of real live people. Not like CC, where you just had a robotic infantry that did as you were told.
