Garry's Mod Update Adds Achievements

An update for Garry's Mod has just been released which adds an initial 15 Steamworks Achievements to the game. Here's a list of the changes in the update :

• Added an initial 15 Steamworks Achievements
• Fixed TF2 player and hat models being black
• Fixed some server lagging exploits

Here's a list of achievements in this update:

• Play Singleplayer - Play singleplayer at least once
• Play Multiplayer - Play multiplayer at least once
• Startup Millennium - Start Garry's Mod 1000 times
• Secret Phrase - Say the secret phrase
• Addict - You have wasted a year of your life playing Garry's Mod!
• Map Loader - Play 20 different maps
• Play Around - Play a gamemode that isn't sandbox
• Friendly - Play around with 10 friends
• are you the real garry? - Play on the same server as garry
• Marathon - Play on the same server map for 8 hours
• One Day - 24 hours of your life wasted
• One Week - One whole week of your life wasted
• One Year - One whole year of your life wasted
• Half Marathon - Play on the same server map for 4 hours
• Killed 1000 Baddies - Kill 1000 Baddies

Well I guess that if you actually manage to spend 1 year playing it, then you get 2 ACHIEVEMENTS so you feel MORE REWARDED!

It's good they have added achievements to Garry's Mod, but looking at them they do seem a little unimaginative. I suppose it is quite difficult to make achievements for a game like this without there being any real purpose or path to follow...which means the achievements are kind of stranded in the middle.

These are kinda crappy achievements. It would've been cooler to do them with things such as constructing objects or stuff like that rather than half of them being "play this a whole lot for a long time".

Yeah he's got the Source devkit, he should make some achievements like "successfully construct a contraption that does x or y".
