well i got mine many a few years ago, i got 5 A's four B's and a D. same as rambler actually, but not the same subjects.

Im sorry but almost anyone could pass the GCSEs now, wait until you get to A-Levels and above ;)

for being a jackass i presume. A levels aren't that hard shift, and everyone i've ever spoken to says that degrees are easier than A's.

i'm off to uni in a month, hurrah!

GCSEs? Like N level or O levels or are they TOTALY different?

yeh i heard that GCSE's nowadays are no where near as hard as they were 5 or more yrs ago.

So congrats on getting high grades, but back then they were merly C's or D's.

Oh and btw getting high grades in schools thesedays is worthless, u can get a job anywhere. No companies where i live care about what grades u got, all it says u can do this & that, but until u can prove u can do that its not worth sh!t

Unless you want to do a decent course at A-level, which will subsequently allow you to get into a decent Uni and have the time of your life.

At GCSE (a year ago) I got one A*, six As, two Bs and a few Cs. At AS level (this year) I got two As and two Bs.

I said sorry before incase i offended anyone lol, buts its true, the GCSEs really weren't any harder for me than they were for the SATS in year 6 in primary school. Its the goverments way of making it so that more people apply for college and university to get them off the streets and out of crappy jobs and to increase the staff in those sort of jobs.

Oh come on, that's the bullshit propaganda of a failing generation. The baby-boomers bitching about our high results are the generation that single handedly ****ed up the environment and got themselves into tons of debt. Where's their superior education now?

The simple fact is that if a syllabus is taught long enough, people will get better at it because teaching methods will only improve. People need to think about that before they make excuses for the fact that they've been bested by younger people. It's common knowledge that IQ scores on average improve by 3 per decade. It makes sense that the younger people will do better than people 30 years ago, as that's a whole 9 points on average, not even taking into account that the smarter people will probably be way higher.

So yeah, while you say GCSEs and A Levels are worthless these days, perhaps you should take a good long look at where your "superior" exams took you in life.

saketi, kids nowadays never hear the end of other people going on and on and on about how GCSE's were harder in their day. have you ever considered that we're just more intelligent than you? lol, seriously though, look at kangy's post, he speaks the truth.

also your little rant about how you dont need grades is completely untrue, you need them to get into A levels, you need THOSE to get into uni and unless you wanna flip burgers for the rest of your life uni is a good idea. having said that there are of course jobs which don't rely so much on grades, but for christ sake my girlfriend is 22 and they still look at her GCSE's!! when she goes for some jobs, which is rediculous, but it happens.

weirdly enough she's a chef, can you beleive they looked at her grades? but they did, i guess they dont just want good cooks, they want intelligent people. not that grades really denote intelligence.... but that's another rant entirely.

oh and getting past the word filter like you did will get you into trouble.

I hope you got full marks in everything then, or you really would look stupid.

Congrats everyone.

For me, I found GCSEs were easy (no revision, except for memorising formulas), A-Levels harder, but not too hard as long as you're prepared to work a bit harder, degrees are hard, I had to work pretty damn hard to get a good Physics degree (not neglecting the social life of course).

GCSEs, easy peasy lemon squeezy. :D

Congrats all though. A levels are harder, less spoon feeding. ;)

i did not say u did not need them for uni or A Levels, i said they are worthless for job prospects. i have seen 3 diff people come into where i work, from getting through their courses at UNI & where have they ended up, no where special, they did all that hard work, got into £1000's of debt & can get a job doing the same as me, on same wage.

Goign to UNI is nothing special and hardly does much for u at all.

I seen on the BBC news previously that a high percentage of students whom have completed their course(s) are working far waorse than people whom have only done GCSE's.

I take it you haven't been to Uni and you need to reassure yourself that you did the right thing by telling other people it's worthless?

I dint goto uni cos i see it as a waste of time & u get into too much debt.

Why train at something to get a better job, when realisticly u come out not so better off as someone whom just left school.

I'll take that as a yes.

sigh

Arguing on the internet's not cool, and especially not when you act like that. Let's stop it, shall we?

its wasn't an act of argumentative content at all, a mere question.

Just like you asked myself.

First, what? That was a statement not a question, apparently made because you couldn't think of anything better to say.

Second, stop it. You lose and now you're spoiling the thread.

Do u actually know what INTERNETS MEANS...

Internets was originally used as shorthand for cluelessness about the Internet or about technology in general but is often used today as an homage to when U.S. President George W. Bush referred to "the Internets" in the 2nd Presidential Debate with U.S. Senator John Kerry on October 8, 2004.

And i did not lose anythin as i did not take part in any competion, kthx bye.

Come on. Have you just decided to type nonsense now? And you lose at life in general if the last few posts are an example of your mental capacity. And now I look like a fool because I keep replying to you.

Nope that is what internets means, why dont u look on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internets_(colloquialism) for yourself.

Shouldn't really use words that u don't understand. Get u tied in a knot one day pal.

And like i keep saying i haven't lost anything within this 'argument' as u call it.

The moral of the story is, if u goto Uni u get into huge debts & very lucky to come out with a job u have worked towards.

Take it up the arse if you want, i dont really care!

LMFAO!!!

And on those comments beforehand, stop bitching at me, im only one year ahead of you lot, im just saying the GCSEs were too easy, and i think you will find that it is goverment policy to change course content and teaching methods, and use things like coursework to ensure a pass. You were speaking to me if i was some old dude who goes, 'Back in my day...' lmao!

Uni's worth it, if you do a degree that's useful for getting you where you want to be. Of course, as with everything, there's people who will not get something out of it.

My job now, I couldn't be here without a degree. And I'm lovin' it (no it's not McDonald's).

The prostate gland is the male G-Spot. So either ram stuff in your arse or your urethrea, it's all good.
