This rumor has been going for about a year now. Randy Pitchfork alluded to it quite some time ago. It could very well be true, but I wonder how much fun it will be. And since it's Gearbox the game will probably be horribly optimized for PC.

I wonder if that game will ever see the light of day. It has been in production for almost as long as DNF now (hyperboles ftw).

Who knows. Sega put it on hold and canceled the Aliens RPG so Rebellion could shit out AVP3. So either they're going to let Gearbox continue working on it now that AVP is well and gone, or they're just not even going to bother with it anymore.
Good riddance.
Colonial Marines is no longer on hold.
Duke Nukem is going to kick your butt.
Anyway, from what I remember Randy never liked the way 3D Realms worked. So he quit to join Rebel Boat Rocker (similar to Ritual) along with other 3D Realms devs, and eventually it led to creation of Gearbox. I don't know why he would make a deal with 3D Realms guys.

Damn, I was going to post this but looks like I was beaten to the punch! Serves me right for waking up around 1 in the afternoon! 
Gearbox is already busy with other projects, and I think the recently suffered from some layoffs so I doubt they've picked up on Duke Nukem Forever. I just got so sick of waiting for Duke Nukem Forever back around 2003. If it gets released then it gets released, if not there are still other titles out there. I don't understand how people can still be waiting in anticipation for this game for well over 12 years now. Duke Nukem 3D was super awesome, don't get me wrong, and I played the hell out of it. I still do once in a great while. But I think it's time we moved on. If the game is released (and that's a big 'if'), and if it's a good title, then I'll definitely pick it up.

The Duke fans are having a hard time letting go of Duke Nukem Forever in the 3D Realms forums. I myself gave up on DNF back at 2003, I don't understand why people are still waiting for it's release?
