Gears 2 footage

I think it looks awsome, cant wait.
 
I played the first one at my friend's place quite a bit, and it was pretty fun, but I think the game play is starting to look a little gimmicky to me. Despite now having a 360, I'll probably pass.
 
I'm really looking forward to the MP. Gears 1 was great online. It was one of the only MP games that I've played that actually had a great tense atmosphere to it. As gung ho as the games style may be, the multiplayer was very tactical teamplayer stuff, and I loved it. What I didn't like was how some weapons dominated way too easily (rockets, sniper) and the bad lobby system.

Other than that though, I have some very fond memories of playing Gears with my close mates.
 
Loved Gears on the PC, still do, however, this really just looks like Gears 1.5.

I`ll get it for the PC if it ever gets released for the single player portion, but multiplayer is of no interest to me.
 
Looks like MS found a replacement for Halo, I expect a 3rd Gears within 2 years

It looks like it introduces more ideas and worthwhile tweaks than most sequels.


I like the idea of mobile cover and the new vip gametype. The living ctf looks like a fun twist too. Most of all i'm just looking forward to some good tactical 5 vs 5.
 
The new CTF does indeed look pretty cool. I'm wondering if meat shieds actually have health, or if they're just bullet shields that can be used forever. It'd be cool if the shield had health so you're opposition would then have to choose whether to keep firing at his own ally or not.
 
GoW MP was alot of fun
hopefully this is just building on an already great concept
the new finishing moves look VICIOUS!

In the 1up Gears 2 vid it mentioned the meat shields having health. They can even be gibbed while you're holding them, leaving you and the camera covered in bits of gore. Apparently you can see limbs flying off your shield as they get filled with bullets too :)
 
Hmm. EGM mentioned that once a meat shield was taken they were considered "dead". Looks great, can't wait.
 
looks like alot of those new additions will get old quickly
 
I can honestly say I'm looking forward to Gears 2. Enjoyed the first one greatly.
 
Stopping power sounds good, but honestly some of that just looked damn annoying. The first Gears' multiplayer just kind of pissed me off after a while...

Wasn't Gears another one of those series that was always slated to be a trilogy? A lot of those floating around now.

Probably not, i'm sure there are some other totally insane people about ;)

The MP only really shines with 2 teams that work well together - for drop in, random tdm, it isn't that great. When played properly it's probably the most tactical multiplayer shooter around. Certainly far more so than CS etc
