Actiontrip is reporting that a leaked version of a Gears PC video, done by Gametrailers.com has surfaced up at Youtube. Since no official announcement has been made about a PC version as of yet this must be taken with a grain of salt.

Oh btw they are also saying that Gears PC will be Vista exclusive. But again, with no official confirmation.

Notice the faster framerate and quicker turning speed. But otherwise I don't see any evidence to suggest that this is infact a PC footage.

Edit: Actiontrip only mentions that this game is running on Vista. No mention of exclusivity.

Jerky aiming is a dead giveaway it's running on console, although they could just be using a controller.

As to the Vista exclusivity, I wonder if it will be like Halo 2 and Shadowrun or whether it actually uses Vista in some way.

People who played Gears on X360, do you see a difference in the frame rate?

Nope. All that vid did was remind me how kick ass GoW is :)

Never played it, but the weapon picking menus look surprisingly 360.

Oh, and when the player kneels, is that a mouse icon I see at the bottom of the screen?

u dont fight that huge dude in gears....this could either be an altered pc version or gears 2?

I hope it's not Vista exclusive. :(

looks like GOW2 footage to me...
and ya i did notice the higher framerate

GoW 2 would be nice. Is there no possibilty this is old footage of content that didn't make the final game?

It's being published by Microsoft Game Studio, same guys who are publishing Halo -2- and Alan Wake, and both of those are Vista exclusive, so I think it's safe to assume that Gears of War will also be..

Third possibility - it's an expansion or an Xbox Live downloadable mission. That or the PC version is getting bonus content, which is a crock to us chumps who already paid for it once.

There was something about new content being included in the supposed PC version. Maybe a GOW: Director's cut for the PC?

Also, a lot of talk about GOW 2 above... Don't you guys recognize any of the scenes? Are they all new? I haven't played it so I wouldn't know....

As for the jerky aiming, it's probably being played using the 360 USB gamepad, as all Games For Windows games -have- to be 360 gamepad-compatible.

i know they have plans for a trilogy
and i did not recognize any of those scenes, although some of it could have been multiplayer and tbh the movie quality wasnt that great
the part where he's fighting that gigantic monster that's firing rockets is definitely new (only see it chasing you in a cut-scene in GOW1)
im willing to bet it was either content that they left out of the first or it is indeed GOW2 :bounce:

*EDIT*
watched it again and some of it is multiplayer (annex)
also, it really does look like its being played on a 360 controller because you can see he has difficulty turning while trying to melee an enemy... and that probably wouldnt happen with a mouse and keyboard :p

Don't care about what it's coming out for, it's only that unseen footage that intrests me!

The very first scene, with the huge creature (forgot it's name now) stomping through the street and Dom and Marcus listening to the radio transmission makes me think that particular scene is set before Gears, as if anyone has read the information about the intial Locust attack they'll know that the COG were calling everyone back to their HQ before they glassed the planet, and Marcus mentions they'd better hurry up.

Interesting.

As for the MP footage... look's like same-old-same-old Gears MP footage so no comment. That, and I've not played it in a while.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Vista exclusive, if that's the case... I may buy Vista just for game.

I don't remember the dinosaur-like thing for the 360 Gears of War.

Left out content me thinks.

It was at the end of Act 4, as you and the squad are leaving the mansion in the APC, it gives chase but unfortunatly it was never included as anything more than a good reason for a dramatic exit to a level.

If fighting it was anything like fighting the Corpser, though... :| Weak as.

Microsoft is starting to piss me off.

Instead of having it available for both Vista and XP, they're going to shove an overwhelming majority of PC gamers aside and have it Vista exclusive. I don't care if you think that Vista is better and everyone should upgrade, I don't care if Microsoft thinks that, I don't care if Epic thinks that... that's not the point. The point is that most PC gamers aren't switching to Vista and they're not going to for awhile. I figure a good six months to a year before Vista has any hold on the PC gamer base. From a business standpoint, it's a horrible idea to make it Vista exclusive. And **** off with "but they'll buy Vista lol" bullshit. Most PC gamers will just torrent the damn thing if they're FORCED to have Vista to play a game they're interested in.

****.

How can you notice a difference in frame rate if Youtube's is fixed and low (29.97 fps? 25 fps)?
And a gamepad could be used on a PC just as well. But you'd have to assume it was on the Xbox360 without other info.

Although I have Vista, I hope it's not exclusive to it, I want more ppl online!

It has a Vista style GFW Live styled achievement pop-up, so it's definitely PC.

This is published by MS, and I can guarantee 99% that it will be Vista only just like Halo2 and Shadowrun.

The icons are going to have X360 for them because MS encourages people to use the gamepad for the games.

Great! We might as well go back to old school 4-way d-pads!

looks like gow2 or an expansion etc, none of the footage/environments was from gow , we will see, looked cool though.

ya i was wondering about that achievement pop-up myself
couldnt really tell because of the poor quality
hmmmmm....

So, this is the Gears of War, eh?

...what's so fabulous about a goddamn shooter?

Well it's part of MS' push to make gaming simpler since it's hard for some people to view their keyboard as a gamepad, and also some people (such as my dad and some friends) can't play on the keyboard well without looking at their fingers every so often. Gamepad just makes it easier, but it will always sitll support keyboard/mouse. They just have to have the gamepad icons in there for those users, while keyboard people have a shortcut key probably.

Compatibility. Games for Windows branded titles work on Windows XP and Windows Vista based PCs, including both 32 and 64 bit editions. Games for Windows titles that support controllers are also compatible with the Microsoft XBOX 360 controller for Windows, including the XBOX 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows. They even support widescreen resolutions and more.

using WASD on a keyboard more closely resembles a 4 way digital pad than a gamepad, because a keyboard is digital. This game uses an analog gamepad to play.

Shit, if it was designed to use this gamepad, then having the ability to use it is fantastic.

Hopefully mouse and keyboard will be perfect, and gamepad control will be perfect too.

Difficulty choosing between two great control methods is a problem I won't mind having.

I like having options.

BTW, I hope this comes out for PC. I really want this game. I've been drooling over it since Microsoft's press conference when they showed gameplay footage last year.

Oh well. Hopefully they'll atleast put the extra content on XBL for 360 owners to get aswell (and reasonably priced, of course). My only complaint of the GoW single player was that there wasn't enough of it, so I for one would definitely download it if it was substantial enough.

I'm not, however, going to buy the game for PC again just to get it - and I'm definitely not getting Vista just to play it.

Don't worry about it.

Arguably Microsoft's biggest game (really Epic's, but MS published it), it makes sense to have it available for Windows and the 360.

A great deal of work (and MONEY) goes into making a game like this. Why would they sell themselves short by making it a Vista exclusive, and not available for the 360? That's a rhetorical question. They wouldn't.

Assuming I'm right, and it comes to both platforms, this game will, without question, boost sales of both the 360 and Vista when it comes out.

I know this is just a video, but it came from somewhere. It's not GoW 360 retail, since this shows gameplay that people who own the game say isn't in the game.

So it's not just a rumor. It exists. For which platform/s is the question.

I just don't believe that this is content that was cut out of the 360 version of the game. I find that very unlikely.

Nope. All that vid did was remind me how kick ass GoW is :)

Have you played Freedom Fighters yet? I remember in the last GoW thread i mentioned to you that Freedom Fighters is far superior to Gears of War, and you said you hadn't played it.

Seriously, if you haven't played it you need to get your hands on it. Gears of War is nothing compared to Freedom Fighters.

Wow, if this does come to the PC it will be a cracker. The 360 version was awesome, so now pc users can experience Gears Of War.

I don't give a crap about movement. I was referring to the use of analogue sticks to aim compared to the might mouse. :)

lol, that's the theme of this entire forum, though not GOW specifically.

I'm excited to know it's PC-bound. This game looks great and I wasn't sure if they'd make a port. Vista only would stink, but I'd still hit it.
