I'd go with the nvidia if that's the 2 choices I'm faced with..newer technology is always welcome..nvidia supports SM3.0 and is cheaper than the 9800 XT and about on par with the fps from it as well..stay away from the 9800 Pro, or cough up another hundo and get the 6800GT..it's the best performing card for the price at 400 bucks

the 6800 is the fasdter card, no doubt. But you could alway try and scrape up some more cash and get a 6800GT

Well my 9800pro does fine, and isnt the 6800 newer anyways? If its newer, then its kinda pointless to say which ones better
