i'm trying to look up "Stream Processors" since the 8800 has 96 of them, and compare them to the 24 pixel pipelines the 7950 has...can anyone help me out? i do see the core clock is the same and the memory is close but should I just wait until DX 10 is actually implemented in games or go ahead and get ahead in the market? Will DX 10 run on Win XP or is it Vista only?

DX10 is Vista only, however DX10 compliant cards are backwards compatible with DX9 software

Great! So DX 10 isn't implemented in XP! That's what I needed to know! However, because the 8800 has 96 Stream Processors is that superior to the 7950 24 pixel pipelines even with both cards at DX 9?

f*** it! I'm getting the EVGA 8800 GTS 640! I found out that 96 stream processors ARE better then 24 pixel pipelines and the core speed doesn't matter that much to me

at first I was worried it would be so long that it would run into my memory but then i remembered that the GTX is 10.6" but the gts is only around 9.6" . Still might be longer then the width of my mobo

f***! ya know what? i'm having a hard time figuring out whether a PSU with dual +12v is actually bad for a gaming rig or if i'm just lookin at the wrong psu's

can anyone explain better then most tut's on the net if the 8800 says it needs +12v@26A if the PCI-E plug from my psu is providing that
