GeForce 8800 Ultra review

Pathetic performance improvement for what will demand quite a premium on the price front i would imagine.

You can turn your 8800GTX into an Ultra with a simple volt mod.

Hopefully the price of the 8800gtx will drop a bit, cause I'll be picking one up this week.

I won't be picking anything up until all the offerings are out in the open and solid reviews for all available.

agreed ...seems a bit premature to buy a dx10 card when there's no dx10 games to test them on

Benchmark between the two is very close. Unless the Ultra costs the same as the GTX then i cant see why you would ever want to buy it? If its another 50-100 dollars just for a few more FPS then thats just retarded.

$999 for an overclocked 8800 GTX? Are they out of their ****ing mind?
"Comes complete qwth drivers for Vista (the only way to actually use DX10) that they are getting sued and booed over because they suck so bad. There aren't any (or any I'm aware of) DX10 games available yet even.

Whats that come to? $500 to overclock my card for me? Gee, I'm a ****ing idiot. Can I pay you $500 to download some software and turn up my clock speed for me?

Seriously, and we aren't just talking 50-100, they are thinking of charging about 400 - $500 more. LOL

But a few more FPS - that's all the difference ever is, once you get to a point. If you check alot of benchmarks of comparable cards, the really expensive ones are barely better. We are talking getting 1-3 more frames per second, rendering the exact same thing. It's almost always a bad idea to buy bleeding edge products IMHO.

Yeah, I refuse to pay ~300 bucks for a video card, just because I can wait for something that will do it better by a smidgen, and get the card for half. Heck, look at my x1800xt. got it for 150 bucks a year ago.

I'll enjoy mine while you all wait to pick yours. :p

I bet the eVGA's super-clocked 8800GTX will hardly be beaten by those "Ultras"

Agreed x2.

I'm also waiting to see what ATI are bringing out before I do anything.
