GeForce FX 5200

I dunno im im posting this is the right place or not, if im not im sorry

But anyways, my friend has a GeForce FX 5200 and he wants to know if he will be able to run HL2 on his machine, can he?

EDIT: THe rest of his machines specs are more than better to run HL2 hes just wondering about the video card

I have a 5200 but I would reccommend getting a ATi card because of the controversy with programmable shaders in HL2. My best advice is for him to hold onto his cash until after the spring when the new GPU's come out. Then the prices of the 9600 and the 9800 will drop to a lower price.
Getting a new graphics card also depends on your friends system specs. I only got the 5200 because A) I got it for 100 and B) my power supply is only 250W, so this presents a problem getting a higher end graphics card because they use use POWA!.

Anywho, If he got the 5200, he could play Half life 2 but not on "high graphical detail" probably only moderate settings if he got the 5200. JUST WAIT!

I would say the low-end of moderate, if that. The capabilities of the 5200 are like the yo-yo skills of an armless man

Agreed. Dont let all those fancy DX9 features fool you. The 5200 doesnt have the power to use them.
