Geforce Ti crashing

After a few minutes of playing Half Life 2, the screen flickers and then freezes. My card is GeForce Ti 4800 (newest drivers), I have 768MB RAM, Windows XP, 2.8Ghz Pentium 4. Any ideas why this is happening?

I think 4800 is too old. I have an FX 5200 and its old but not as old as that so it still performs ok. Find what the weakness is of your card and turn that part down. For example my card only supports shader 2.0 when most cards now have 3.0 or better so I just turn the shade detail down and I get better framerates and no crash.

the ti4800 is not too old at all for source that is. source can run well on almost any type of system. the only thing i would try to fix your problem is to use something in the 70 or 80 series drivers.

Your problem could be overheating.

Does this only happen in HL2 or does it happen in other games?

Try taking the side of the case off and see if the crashing stops. Check for any airflow problems.

If not, I suggest you try an older driver.
