GeForce6600 for under 200$?!

That's nice that they are bringing the new cards down through the 'mainstream'.
Sadly this 'mainstream' isn't mainstream exactly as it's PCI-Express and not AGP.

I'd still rather have a 9800Pro with 256Bit memory bus.
Glad that they are bringing that series to the lower price points at least, even if no one will be buying them just yet.

Isn't there a 6800Le for $200 now? And that one is 256-bit, and I think has the 12 pipelines, sounds like a better deal, the 6600's seem to be for an affordable dual gpu setup, Nvidia wanted the price for the dual gpu to be around the 6800gt price.

No, they canned the 6800 LE. They have a hard enough time producing the 6800, 6800 GT and 6800 Ultra.

As for the 6600 series, I want to see the 6600 GT. Such a highly memory clockspeed offset with a low memory bus. I wonder how long it will take them to hit the markets with this new chipset. After all, the X600 is already out (too bad it is PCI Express only), but the X600XT is slower than the 6600 series.

Got to love Inquirer linkage

But I was just thinking that that's exactly how the 5800 was, 128-bit bus, 500/1000 clock speeds. And they had to get rid of it cause it was bad. and it only has 8 pipelines, so I'd say that because it's only 128-bit it's not as good as a 9800 pro. In a dual gpu setup though, who knows.
