General Opinion about voice chat

Any douche that thinks WoW has a "mood" worthy of keeping, should be ****ing shot.

As for the whole voice-chat killing the gaming experience, I totally disagree, games suck without the ability to voice chat with your team. Especially when you're playing with your friends.

In general I don't mind it, but there are some people with really annoying voices out there.

Oh and it sometime distracts from the game. Once while playing 2fort in TFC there was a kid voice chatting. He wasn't annoying at all (especially when compared with some voice chatters) but this one kid kept insulting his voice, 12 year old japanese girls voice and what not, but they argued for so long and the texting kid was such a douche he took the enemy flag went into our spawn room and refused to leave. I was pissed because I had been playing as scout that round and had been capturing the flag like it was my job. Eh, I'm probably over analyzing it but...

I'm all for it. Yeah, you get some really grating voices and plenty of people who just love to hear themselves talk, but thankfully you're able to mute them most of the time.

Voice chat is far more efficient and less of a pain in the ass. I see how it can be a killer in games where people really role-play, but then it's not like you couldn't have destroyed the atmosphere with text any way.

Besides, you can't really play WoW without Ventrilo or some equivalent. At least not if you find yourself in endgame raiding or hardcore PVP guilds. Plus it's fun. You have more immediate dialogue, you laugh and **** around, and then there's the inevitable screaming after making a new kill. From a distance, it may seem dumb and annoying. But you stop caring once you find yourself wrapped up in it as well. If you hang around mature players (well, mature enough players) things like your voice, age, or sex don't matter too much so long as you're a good player and don't act like a twit or an attention whore.

Arguably, this is more difficult with female gamers, seeing as how male gamers aren't too shy about being anonymously libidinous. But then you always have the option of not using a microphone.

Voice chat is absolutely a must. It simplifies all teamwork since you don't have to type.

I've been repeatedly banned for barking orders over DoD:S

Yes, it's a must

Fo SHO!

Albeit with the ability to mute anyone or everyone with ease.

Voice chat, and player muting, is all but completely necessary in multiplayer gaming. End of story.

Voice chat is great, especially with friends. Just makes games so much more fun, and easier if you're working in a team.

Does this guy not realize pre-pubescent boys get off on hearing girls talk on the internet because, well, NO GIRLS TALK ON THE INTERNET BECAUSE OF THE BOYS?! It's like my theory on boobs. Right now, if a woman walked outside topless, she'd be shun'd, hit on, screwed, jailed. While a male can walk around topless with NO problems. Why? We see no problem with it. If after 50+ years of girls going around topless, the little boys will have gotten used to it as adults, and the kids they spawn would see that as normal as well. Granted, the breasts would probably lose their sex appeal a bit, but eh...

All i'm saying is girls wouldn't be so attacked by people when they showed they were females on the internet, if most of them didn't hide that face.

Wow, that would make for an awesome mantra.

"Fight for equality. Show us your boobies."

i bought a headset after getting bf2 and dont regret it at all, lot of fun playing and chatting ingame.

Great fun playing online with voice chat, is a must!

I generally just voice chat with friends, instead of everybody in a random game.

It's awesome. So much better to be able to play the game and communicate at the same time. with a keyboard, you have to stop playing as long as it takes to type. there there is the fact that it's sometimes hard to tell emotion from text, and also a lot of typing is tedious. Also, you have to take your eyes off the action in the game to read.

In fantasy role playing games, it can be weird when that cute young lady has a grown ass man voice, but it keeps things real. Keeps you from liking them, and keeps guys who play girl characters from always having to let people know they aren't really a girl, and keeps guys from hitting on them.

It's good, my guild doesn't accept people who act or speak like tards, so theres no problem and it's efficient. We only accept sarcastic stupidity and what not if we find it funny.

Thing is he's right but only about MMOs and WoW in general. He should try other games because in FPS games, it's a different environment and there's no "emotional bond" or whatever the **** he's on about.

How's he right?

The extent of his argument is pretty much limited to RP servers. If you're on anything else, you don't care too much. Or at least you shouldn't care. Outside of RP is the dominion of "stfu n replace ur greens OMFG NINJA STABLES NOW FGTS gg l2p".

I don't know about you guys, but when I'm voice chatting with someone, I don't think of hanging out with them, get that emotional bond to where we are BESTEST friends, and if he insults me, I won't commit suicide because my ONE TRUE LOVE hates me.

It's called Real Life over here, and FANTASY here.

Only game I've felt the need to voice chat in has been Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow multiplayer. For everything else, music is far, far better!

letters!

I bet it's because you sound like a young girl or something D:

Heh, I used to not like Voice Chat. back when I was... dun dun dun,
PREPUBESCANT! Now I'm in the middle of puberty.. (closer to the end, though.) and my voice basically got deeper over the summer, a year ago.
I used to sound like a girl, and people used to ask me, 'are you a girl?'
But not anymore! :D

But seriously, voice chat is made for counter-strike.
How many times have you gotten owned while typing?
Many times.

It just got me banned again for fighting with another player :(

No, believe it or not, it's actually just what I said... or to put it more bluntly, I would actually prefer not to listen to a bunch of annoying little shitheads while I'm trying to relax. SCPT wasn't like that; it attracted a crowd more my type I guess...

lol

that's why I pretty much only chat with friends :p

It's a MUST for team fps games and I say it should be standard with most other multiplayer games.

The fact that ET:QW DOESN'T have it is one of the reasons I'm not getting it.

For the most part it's horrible in public gaming otherwise it's good.

It got really annoying when people just started having conversations in the middle of the game. In my experience, rarely did people use it to coordinate their efforts or converse about anything relevant to the game, for that matter. Voice chat just bugged me.
