Get off MSN Messenger NOW!!! This is NOT a joke. Something like 4900 hackers are hacking people, and my friend was hacked, and the hacker took over his thing and is messing with me. My contact made new account and talked the same time as the hacker, and he sent picture of him talking to him. This is NOT a joke. Someone Please confirm so that I won't look like an idiot. Anyways GET OFF MESSENGER NOW!!!

AIM, MSN, ICQ, yahoo messenger = for newbs.

learn to use IRC...and then force everyone you know to use it so you're not affilitated with some company who's getting advertising money from your usage of their program.

though I agree IRC is the superior to all of those, aim, icq, etc are convenient because they are for newbs. Friends from school have no idea what th ehell a server is, so I use that. Just about everyone uses aim or something anyway so its easier to just follow the crowd. Not hurting anyone.

I don't IRC because of all those facts too. The only point for me to do IRC is to be in a chat room, and I don't like those.

Trillian has crap for direct connection, so I use AIM and IRC.

On both right now.. Most everyone I know uses AIM, I don't have ICQ installed and I have messenger permanently disabled on my system

yeah, I have problems connecting with trill sometimes, it doens't like to accept until a very long wait or somehting, but its not really that big a deal. maybe you have different problems, but otherwise it works fine. I just gotta ask them for a connection rather than them me.

100% agree. I usually use IRC for uh... my... err, 'hard-to-find' file needs, I guess you could say? :x

I use irc mainly, but msn for work/friends stuff etc..

havent used icq in about 2 years, i think 99b was the last version I liked, it was just downhill from there with all the adverts and other pointless crap.

I knew this fact since 3 years ago. Man 3 years ago I was chatting with my friends in Games Room and that man was keeping sending me spamming files, it was trojan, after 20 mins, my pc restarted and a big red message pop to screen "I Fuked your Babe", and then the system.inc was missing. Since then I never used messanger again. Never and I am not willing too in the future. Microsoft is evil :flame:

okaaayyyy ive never had a problem with msn , EVER, and am forced to use it as all my friends are newbs[almost all neway] but straight after i read this thread, i went on to tell a mate , and i had no goddamn name :S first time nethings gone wrong. just hope it was just a friend who got my password and did it and not a hacker

a perfect example of why you should learn to use IRC...because then you wouldn't be a newb getting hacked.

it's not like IRC is complicated...and you can private message people as well as have a room just for you and your friends that's password protected and always open to whoever's online.

then if you wanna tell everyone something or post a funny link, you can do it...but if you want to talk to a certain person about something more private, you PM them...it's much better than any messenger program.

Yes, but MSN is a lot more widespread. And I know a whole lot of people who use MSN that are not n00bs =)

Anyways, I use MSN for talking to my friends, and IRC for chatting with Clan Members and such :cheers:

it's a funny because he blames MSN for his problem when MSN didn't force him to use settings that caused him to accept a file transfer from someone he doesn't even know. his conclusion from getting a trojan is that "microsoft is evil"

that might be true, but g0rgon's experience isn't a good reason to think so.

sorry, not accepting a file transfer from a random person is just common sense...or not leaving auto-accept type settings on.

what he's doing is like blaming the police if you get a speeding ticket going 100 in a 70. your fault.

Funny your should mention this MSN hackers thing. Just yesterday my entire MSN account was reset and all my conntacts were gone. I had over 130 contacts. It was weird i one second iw as online then it turned off and back on and everyone was gone. Now i have to recover allt he e-mails. :-/

Im a Trillian user too. Works fine for me. I don't really use IRC much...I prolly would if the internet was better..then I could d/l cool stuff..but yeah....crappy internet..
