A LARGE great white shark measuring up to 20ft long is on the prowl off a popular Australian beach, according to officials

Bite marks on the mauled shark suggest it was at least six metres long

Swimmers were warned to stay out of the water off Stradbroke Island, in Queensland, after the shark mauled another smaller great white which had been hooked on a baited drum line.

The 10ft great white was almost bitten in half

madre de dios!!! click on the link to see a pic of the shark that was bitten:

"WE NEED A BIGGER BOAT!!!"

Not surprised.

A great white was spotted by a lifeguard helicopter in South Africa once. They radioed in asking the Navy if they had any submarines in the area as it was quite a large shadow in the water and very close to the beach.

Navy said they had nothing in the area, and then the shark's fin broke the surface.

I mean come on, thats gotta be HUGE if they thought it was a sub. Yes I know there are lots of small subs, but still, thats one BIG shark in comparison to the average 10ft-or-so shark.

But still, 6 metres? Thats just over 19ft right? Ok, screw swimming in Australia...

this about the size of the shark:

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to make sure.

Heard about this. Didn't really grasp the idea of 20 feet until that teeth mark photo.

Holy shark!

I'm a little bit horrified that the bitten shark was still alive when the picture was taken.

i don't understand the picture...how many freakin fins are we looking at here?

also, how are we sure that; a) that photo and the one in the OP is not a shop b) those "bites" in the OP aren't from a propeller from a big tanker or something

the same amount of fins almost every shark has?

I bet our Neanderthal cousins killed the greatest beasts and dragons and thats why we don't have any challenges left. We need to find a new planet with flying whales and massive 5 story elephants to kill

At least it isn't another one of those damned Street Sharks.

That smaller shark seemed pretty happy about being bitten in half.

I get the feeling you'll enjoy the movie Avatar.

I've always hated being in the ocean, those bigass things scare the crap out of me. I mean a freaking 20 ft shark is not exactly very heart warming to know when you're swimming around.

I can only wonder what kind of creatures you'll get in the abyss.

Dudes, we have tanks. Jesus. Imagine what a freaking deer feels like crossing the street. Most of us will never even see that shark, or a shark (in the wild) - period.
