Get stuck at the 1st level

Hi all,

I get stuck at the bridge (pls see the image ) and don't know how to pass it.
I don't have the gravity gun as well (Is it normal ??).

any help ?

You should get the gun from Alyx in like, the first five minutes of the game...

About as normal as dressing up in your sister's clothes and going on a road trip. Or about as normal as using cross-dressing as a comparrsion for the normality of a situation.

Quite how you managed to miss the gravity gun is a mystery that would be interesting to hear answered . I'd suggest you were cheating except, obviously you aren't or otherwise you wouldn't be stuck where you are!. Try restarting the game again. Dog will hold the gravity gun out about 15 seconds after you regain control of your character.

Not exactly, that part actually requires a mild amount of skill and coordination to beat, it's not like he can just turn gravity on 0 and fly away.

Maybe he can just pick him, Alyx and Dog up with the Gravity Gun and just zoom off to a faraway carribean island while the rest of the world goes to the shizzle

At that point the gravity gun is taken from you, zapped and then dropped as the super-grav gun. Did you simply forget to pick it up, or did it disappear?

Just curious, did you play and complete Half-Life 2? Because the same happens then Only, then I think it's better at forcing you to pick it up because the combine flood into the room, whereas here it's pretty easy to miss it. In fact, you may not even have to reload where you are: walk back to the room and see if it's still there!

edit: as for what comes next, if you're new to the HL citadel, that may be harder to instantly grab as it is shown that the energy orb things can power devices in the citadel. You have to pick up one of the orbs (they're flowing along the bottom of the strange energy thing at the bottom of your screenshot) with the grav gun and throw them into the devices. As you can probably deduce, there is already one in the right one, you just need one in the left.

May be a bit of a spoiler to new players to Half life 2, however its relatively near the beginning so it shouldn't spoil much.

I thought certain aspects of the game triggered different scenes. So even if he did cheat to miss the gravity gun, he shouldn't have been able to continue with the level without infact picking it up. For example, I have played half life 2 through about 9 times (sad I know :| but I do love it) so I thought I might have a bit of a laugh and put some cheats in. Anyway I put in the weapons cheat after getting the hazard suit in "red letter day" and killed Lemar, quite ammusing watching Kleiner pat his head for nothing lol. When it came to the bit with the portal in Breen's office I killed Breen with the Rocket Launcher, also quite ammusing watching him saw across the room, before he had a chance to say "Gordon Freeman" At this point I was stuck in his office so I believed it to be simply because Breen didn't say his next line which should trigger the next scene. So back to episode one; if infact he didn't pick the up gravity gun, then technically speaking it shouldn't have triggered the next scene.
This may be all wrong, but I can't see any other way of describing it.

missing textures are purple checkerboard. it could just be a shader error which can be fixed by restarting the game. also ive never seen or heard of one pirated copy of ep1.

I doubt this is the case here though, looks like he`s just warezed it without buying, otherwise he`d have known those purple checkerboards are not normal.

Well, I have a Maestro Debit card (a joint venture by Mastercard apparently) and I have problems purchasing anything over steam, thats why I have to go to the shops to buy Steam based games :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame:

You're not looking very hard then, warez versions of Episode 1 do exist. Just do a search on any major torrent site.

that was what i was saying earlier if you tab out or use the windows key to tab out alot. then it will cause a shader error which results in all specular effects to be purple checkerboards.
