Does anyone besides me ever feel like your pc is trying to work against you? I just upgrade my CPU and mobo, now I cant run my video card on 8X without it freezing, the onboard sound is ****ed up and now I'm having this game frame skipping problems in games that have plagued me even on my 32 bit machine.

Please..I need some comfort =(

Update the motherboard's drivers. If that doesn't work, try setting AGP to 4x. There's actually no noticable difference between 8x and 4x, I think the X800 and 6800 are the only ones that could take advantage of 8x.

BIOS is up to date. I AM running it on 4x, i'm not having a frame skipping problem...and my onboard sound has static interference. I'm not worried about the sound, though.

Did you reinstall Windows after replacing your CPU and motherboard. That can be important. Unless you really know what you're doing I would not recommend skipping that step.

Dude, I know how you feel, for the past month or 2, been getting kicked out of every game, then sent to desktop, then my motherboard died, so I though it was that. So get new one, format HDD, installing everything that needs to be installed, and still does it! :x So then I get on IRC and tell about my problem and 2 chaps tell me to use memtest86 or whatever, use it, find out 2x256mb sticks have about 300 errors total, so I am like "**** this shit, next paycheck goes for another 512mb stick of ram" grrr...I hope I will be able to play new games without any problems from now on...Last thing I am adding is that 512mb stick, and thats it, no more modding it. I just want the pc to work right :-P

Nothing but problems during XP install with the SAME MOBO! ! ! 30+ atempts at installing the os and about 17 hours of headache! ! ! MSI tech support SUCKS MY D*CK! ! ! PM my account on the boards if you need, maybee I can help you. :) :) :) I love these boards, people here are so chill :)

It seems that alot of people have been having trouble with that board.

guess getting a good mobo is a step worth not ignoring. I'm in the process of making a comp too. I'm on a waiting list for an X800 XT and i plan on getting the Asus A8V delux 939 mobo and an Athlon 64 3500+ and 1GB of PC3200 ram. I hope I can get it all in without having to reinstall windows.

I have an MSI motherboard, heres what I can say.

1. Download the chipset driver from www.msicomputer.com , its probably listed as inf66.exe

2. Check your processor and heatsink to see if they are installed properly. If there is any jiggling of the heatsink, fan assembly or processor than it is installed wrong and you are probably overheating.

3. Download SiSoft Sandra, PCMark 04, and 3DMark 03.

4. Find out some benchmarking info on your RAM, and Processor. Also check your CPU temperature.

Good LuCk!

CPU Idles at 46C. The board naturally reads high..i did a bios update and that fixed it..for about a day. I had to update my up to date bios to get the temp reader to work again. I AM NEVER BUYING AN MSI PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!

Once again I have a product and no issues while others do.

MSI's tech support is one of the best there is. You would be waiting days for a response from other manufactures, like Asus.

It's a brand new chipset and board. You are buying something before it has matured.
My only issue was the temp sensor reading which was fixed when I updated bios to V1.2.

It could be other components too, like RAM.

I have had a history of problems with my computer. It the past it would randomly restart itself, at least once a day. Likes to tottally freeze up so I have to restart in the middle of something. And it has always and still does (maybe someone can help) drop to 1-5 fps every few minutes in any games, from CS to D3! Someone help my fps drops please! Ive been wanting help for ages.

MSI's tech support was denying that the MSI message boards had anything posted on the forums about the MS7030 (K8N NEo Platinum) this was while I was on the message boards reading post, after post of the same poblem I was having. The os would NOT load after copying the files to the HDD, this was with two seperate drives, one SATA, and one IDE? I have used MSI for YEARS, and no real problems up till now. I WAS always happy with there tech support, but the bs I put up with yesterday had me worried, but I got it goin without them. All is well now, belive me once you get that MOBO goin, it FLIES! ! ! :)

Yeah, they respond fast. They suggest removing one of my sticks of ram (because I have 2 brands) and running it on 8x. Didnt work. I"m going to do a fresh format when I get back from the beach.

Sounds to me like a bad power supply. The wattage may be too low for your system, or you just have a crappy one. Antec and Thermaltake make the best power supplies, and they're very stable.

The thing is, it might be better to get a case that doesn't come with a power supply, and then get an Antec or Thermaltake seperately. I don't know if Aspire makes decent power supplies.

ive got the x-superalien with a 500 w PSU, and none of the rails drop below what there rated, atleast on my system...

Abit AN7
XP 3000+ 400FSB
9500 Pro
Audigy

So far no problems.....

Im gettin this PSU now, tomshardware said it was good plus all the reviews are good on new egg. VANTEC Ion Van-400B 400W.
