Um, there's not exactly a tutorial on modding. If you are planning any sort of total conversion it is quite complex and involves many aspects of modding including, coding, modeling, mapping, animation, sound, GUI, etc, etc.

Perhaps check out VERC: http://collective.valve-erc.com/ Lots of good info there.

I'd recommend you just do a lot of research on what it takes to mod today's games before seriously thinking of doing one yourself.

there was actually a few pages on how to make a mod, what to do, what you need, etc etc... but i forgot where i saw it :p
my thoughts short:

1. find a new original concept ?
2. find a team that shares your enthausiasm
3. make sure that team concists of modelers/texturers/concept artists ;p
4. start making concepts
5. start the modeling
6. texturing
7. animating
8. coding
9. sound FX
10. compiling ?
11. mappers
12. map objects (see point 1 to 6)
13. characters ?
14. a MOD site
15. create a community
16. sell it on STEAM
17. $$$$$

heh
i forgot alot i know ...

1. Purcahse ski mask
2. $$$$$$

even easier!

edit: VERC's the place to go. Other than that you should probably wait for HL2, most of the community will relearn together then.

Well very good concept, man, I know what you mean, I hate people that make posts saying "RECRUITING" they like give you their "Extraordinary" idea, and when you apply to them they never answer, or they just tell you that they cancelled it, people please! Before recruiting have at least the plans ready, what weapons are you going to have, what vehicle, what features and have a web-site, its hard to take someone serious with out a web-site for the MOD. In few words, don't waste people's time, like this when we read "RECRUTING" we can all take it seriously.
Don't make the MOD community loose its credibility.
I should write something about this so and then maybe pin it for people so they can think twice before they start recruiting.

Your first post is asking for help on how to make a mod, your second is suggesting giving out info on how to do it. Tbh your not really in a position to give others info on such things when you've barely begun yourself.

And if you want anything "pinning" you have to bribe one of the staff.

$10 - moderators
$60 - super moderators
$sexual favors - Admins

Generally, mods do reply, and whats the point of having a website when you have nothing but unskinned renders?

Guys, we started on the wrong foot here, first, I diden't say I that I did not know how to make MODS, I only said that I just needed some tips to make sure I did not missed important points , what I said about posting is that sometime is bothering to see people post to recruit when they only have an idea that they will surelly drop.

About the web site, is of course stupid to have a web site with nothing in it, we are not that stupid.

Ps: Could you give me your bank account? And are we talking in Dollars or in Euros?

Ok Adrien,

First thing you need to do is start a concept, since you are going to be the leader you have to know what you want out of your mod. So write the story, if its going to be multiplayer, single player, or both whatever, then you gotta write out what the gameplay is gonna be like etc what you want everything to sound like, look like etc.

Then you gotta find a team. But make sure you are able to do at least one job, like modelling, skinning, whatever. That way your team doesnt feel you are laying back while they do all the work or whatever. Unless they really feel your idea is gonna get them the $$$.

I am currently looking for a mod team to work with my idea. But its gonna take a damn good team.

Anyway, good luck Adrien.

That is been taken care of, but thanks for the reply, it just you know sometime you don't want to miss some cretial points.

May I ask what is you MOD about? (just give us some overview
