Ok, i wanna spend around 2000...

this is what i came up with

Athlon 64 4400
Geforce 7800GTX
2X1gb SDRAM OCZ Titanium
DFI Lanparty Motherboard
4xRaptor WDC
PSU-Thermaltake TR2 500 W
Thermalright xp-120
and a case for about 100

Im using it for pc games....lets say battlefield 2 and hl2. I want to be able to run these games on max settings....is this good enough?

Nah man, thats no good. :P
Actually you'll have no problem playing anything for years to come if worst comes worste just get another 7800gtx for you sli setup. :)

do you really need 4 hardrives?? spend more on the stuff you need

thats what im asking you guys, someone from this forum recommended this stuff.......

You should only need two of those hard drives (74GB right?)...
That power supply only maxes 15A on the 12V rail, and apparently you should have at least 20A for a gaming rig. Like this one maybe...iunno
Also what about a dvd drive?
Other than that looks awesome!

Looks good, although the harddrives might be a bit excessive. Raptors are awesome but you just need 1...maybe 2 if you are going to do RAID or need even more space and want all the drives to be top performers (even your storage drives?).
There is a new Raptor out with 150GB and it's faster than the older two drives (36gb and 74gb) of course.

so far i changed my PSU to an Antec True Power 12 V and I guess Ill use 1 raptor 150 GB. As for a case, I want to be sure that everything will fit :)

any suggestions around the 100-150 range?

IMO wait until Windows Vista. You'll be kickin yourself later.

2 raptors in raid. . . other than that youve built yourself a monster

I can use my floppy disk drive from my old one, along with ym cd/dvd drive?

whats raid?

and is everything compatible

A single 150Gb raptor will be more than fast enough. If you need more storage space then you can get another larger capacity drive, say a 250Gb samsung spinpoint or hitachi deskstar.

As for cases. There are some good thermaltake cases for that kind of money. The armour has plenty of space, the tsunami looks nice, but is a little smaller. Lian li's PC-V1000 is a brilliant case. The antec P180 is meant to be quite good, although i've heard opposing things about it. Silverstone also make some very good cases for that price range. Not to mention the coolermaster stacker as well, plenty of space, good cooling. Hope all goes well

i still dont really understand RAID.....can someone dummy it down for me?

raid is getting 2 or more hard drives to work together as one ..it speeds up seek times

oohhhhhh, alright....

is it worth doing if i am not planning on OC'ing?
(sorry for all the questions)

its not worth it unless your like doing something that causes the harddrive to load things alot like video editing or something like that, but if you can afford it go right ahead

Lol.

No matter what you chose, everything will fit, it's just a matter of how much left over space you'll have for futsing around in the case (IE cable management, case modding).

Hehe, that's worthy of a sig.

"Will it fit in my case?" -Tyguy
