getting rid of ati drivers

Yup. Use any driver cleaner.

umm, how about just going System->Hardware->Device Manager->Graphics Cards->Uninstall

That's the best way....

It works but sometimes I think things can be left behind. Driver Cleaner get rid of it all, so the only drivers and files you have will be the new ones.
