Just wondering, does the GF4 Ti series support Pixelshader 1.4? I thought it was a full blown DX8.1 card, so with PS1.4 and vertexshader 1.1, but some programs (well actually all who show it) say the card supports PS1.3. And how much difference is there between PS1.3 and PS1.4?
I did some google searching, didn't find much satisfying info, except that PS1.4 was something supported only by the top ATi cards of that time (Radeon 8500).

I am pretty sure it does, but PS 1.4 is/was a DirectX 8.1 technology....

I'm didnt thought 8500 support it either. I know the 9000 and 9200 support it, they are DX8.1 cards... G4ti is not, only PS1.3.

The difference is that PS1.4 is faster than PS1.3. And that's about it.

The 8500 has reincarnations, the 9000 and 9200 (maybe both, but atleast one).

But isn't very weird that the GF4 Ti isn't DX8.1? The DX8 Geforce 3 was already a year old.

Well, you know... ATI goes DX8.1, Nvidia sticks with DX8. ATI goes DX9, Nvidia sticks with DX8/8.1/DXNV8.2 :P

as dawdler says, only card based on the r200 core (8500,9000,9100,9200) can do ps 1,4.

It seems history repeats itself :x

But there are no big visual differences between ps1.3 and ps1.4?

Dont think so... I dont know the specs for it. All I remember is that 1.4 is mainly just a speed increase.
