Nooooooooo!

I hope this is just some sort of huge misunderstanding.

Activision Blizzard has submitted its latest release schedule with no mention of forthcoming title from Terminal Reality, Ghostbusters, 50: Cent: Blood on the Sand from Swordfish or Double Fine's Brutal Legend.

Additionally the company plans to "realign" staff at High Moon Studios and Radical Entertainment, while Massive Entertainment and Swordfish Studios are both under consideration for sale or closure.

The future is similarly bleak for Vivendi Games Mobile and Sierra Online, both of which have been designated as "non-strategic business units", with Activision publishing CEO Mike Griffith extolling an efficiency drive.

"We are focused on improving efficiency across the combined organisation and are concentrating on businesses where we have leadership positions that are aligned with Activision Publishing's long-term corporate objectives," he said in a statement.

"We have conducted a thorough review of Vivendi Games' brand portfolio and are retaining those franchises and titles that are a strong fit with our long-term product strategy. We are reviewing our options regarding those titles that we will not be publishing."

Currently Prototype, Crash Bandicoot and Ice Age have solid release dates following earlier rumoured cuts involved in the merger between Activision and Vivendi Games. The company will also retain The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and one other unnamed title.

"We are very excited to add such recognisable and successful brands as Crash Bandicoot, Ice Age and Spyro, which reinforce our leadership position in movie-based and family entertainment video games," added Griffith.

I guess some further proof is that there was a planned Ghostbustters Q&A at Comic Con that was abrubtly cancelled, with no reason given to the fans on why...

Seriously, this is depressing. Ghostbusters looked amazing.

I reckon its a government conspiracy. Ghostbusters holds the key to enlighetment, and they wouldn't want that would they?

Call me extremely skeptical. All three of the games mentioned are possible money-makers that are far along in production, and canceling them would just be stupid at this point. I don't put that by Activision, but it seems unlikely.

It better not be cancelled. Ghostbusters looks like it's gonna be awesome.

Surely not? Didnt Dan Aykroyd write the story? and Bill Murray was going to be in it
Aw man :(

ghostbusters recently released a trailer at E3 last week as did 50 cent ..to say they're cancelled is being more than a little premature

I was more worried about Tim's Brutal Legend myself, but yeah, I don't see this happening, esp. when the games are so far along. Someone will publish them.

like the coments in kotaku says, activision is very dump to drop the oportunity to publish a ghostbusters game
maybe the ceo's arent fans?

I am starting to have a bad feeling about this new activision blizzard merge

yeah and what about brutal legend?

Thats the same thing that happened with Psychonauts. Microsoft backed out of publishing at the last minute.

Yeah, and then the marketing sucked out loud and so no one heard of it until it was a cult classic and much harder to find on your platform of choice. So sad. I LOVE that game tons and tons.

That game was supposed to be released in 2 or 3 months, would be stupid to cancel.

Alright, so the game is still being developed, it's just the fact they don't have a publisher now.

Still, that's bad news. That means that hopefully the company has some cash saved up to fund development until somebody else picks up publishing duties.

Microsoft, get to it :D
