Recently ran accross this site:
http://www.boycottgillette.com/
At first I thought it was just another nut with an aluminum foil cap. But then I noticed that the website was not written in all caps, bold, or with excessive exclamation marks. It didn't even mention the CIA. A quick google search brings up a couple other links. Seems like Gillette really is spying on people, or atleast putting RFID chips into their packaging. I dunno if I believe the hidden camera bit though.

Omfg how dare they spy on me while I attempt to make my chin silky baby bottom smooth.

Market research.

I buy BIC razors anyway. They're cheap ....and yeah cheap. :)

It's true.. its just an example of marketeering going OTT
They've had cameras on the shelves of stores in the mall I used to work in before.. its not *ultra* new, but it's been mainly a fancy toy for the marketing depts. of these companies since RFID came around.

I think im gonna be si-Balaalrlrlrarlrlghh splatsplashgushshsh...
Ehm...Im tired, goodnight...

Although it's not funny, it's still kindof.. heh.

Do they want to do research on beards???

EDIT: Eatbugs, why do you have 0 posts? :O

That's err, creepy, since all my well-loved shaving gear (ie. girlfriend enforced :P) is Gillette.

But their razors cut so close... so smooth... must... buy... more... gillette...

I actually need a shave, I'm stubbly, but it looks cool.

Tabloid-istic website. Gillette didn't "hide" these sensors, they announced them when they were introduced.

If you are that desperate not to have your picture taken, you shouldn't be in a shop anyway, they almost all have cctv recording you as you walk in.

It's probably just for reasearch i.e what type of age group uses it, how often someone shaves etc.

Tin foil caps get bad press, they're really quite comfortable...
I used and electric shaver, from phillips...or, some company like that :D

Well cctv is pointing at us a lot more than just in the shops. Most major cities will have cameras littered about the place.

Big Brother is watching!

Then again...big brother might be watching Japanese wrestling on the next monitor.

They have cctv cameras on most of the buses in Edinburgh now. They used to just have 1 at the front, but in the newer buses they have at least 5 on the top level so they can see everything that's happening (including the deviants at the back).

The only problem I have is that they've also put a TV screen at the front which switches between all the cameras, meaning everyone can see you, and you can see them.

Why would I want to boycott them for this? I don't mind at all.

When my Dad worked for a government defense contractor one of his friends had a great idea. Put devices around the city that would detect a gun shot, and it could triangulate the position of the shot and police could be called to the exact location of the shot right after it is fired.

Oh yeah I've heard about that. Haven't they actually tried setting that up in some places?
