Holy crap. I'll never think of Giraffes the same again. Those were some solid hits. It hurts my ribs just thinking about being hit by one of them.

its like hitting each other with a rubber chicken

Except with the force that could probably easily break human bones.

You know, before I saw this video, I didn't even think giraffes really fought. I mean sure they might have some squabbles, but I couldn't ever picture them going at it like you imagine other creatures. I always thought they were so awkward and with such fragile necks...but damn I was wrong.

What would of made it really funny, is if one of the giraffes stepped away quickly while they were leaning heavily against each other... like we humans might do for amusement to let the other fall.

Seeing their necks move and curve like that is :O

I find it fascinating how unique animals like giraffes fight in such a unique way. And it's not like they "learn" how to do it like a human would learn how to fight properly, they instinctively know the most efficient way to fight.

They also kick lions in the head. If a lion messes with a giraffe, they can literally lose their head if a giraffe kicks them. It's that powerful.

that was truly fascinating. they are like "headshotting" each other..

I cringed when one of them hit the other in the neck, and the neck went all... "S" shaped. And when one kept getting hit in the legs... im surprised they didnt snap at the knees.

It's called headbutting.
It's called, "just nod your head and break your neck."

Seriously, doesn't that hurt them? Using their necks like whips? If I were a giraffe I'd be like, "Dude, chill, I'll just go eat some leaves over here instead. I don't need whiplash."

Definitely cool. Its pretty understandable too, considering their anatomy. Their necks are very strong and agile, whereas there legs seem to be the weakest part, so it stands to reason that they would evolve to try and break their knees with their necks when fighting.

So many aspects of this I want to bring up!

First of all; My view of giraffes as peaceful, docile creatures are gone.

Second: For some reason, seeing them use their necks like that made me laugh out loud the first few seconds. I also found it hilarious how they were so passive aggressive, like drunks, fighting for a few seconds, then leaning on one another trying to catch their balance and then going at it again for a few seconds.

Thirdly: ****ing ow! Man them are vicious bastards.

lol at 1:10 it looks like the lions are trying to jump in the giraffes ass :D. Thats my contribution to this thread.

This post = what I was going to post.

Man those lions were like little kids that try to hold onto your legs while you walk.
