My boyfriend is a major fan of Half-life and when he heard that the 2nd one was due out he decided to upgrade his pc, he has chose a Sapphire Radeon 9800 Atlantis PRO 128MB graphics card I was just wondering is it any good, I don't want him to upgrade his pc and find that this graphics card is pants. If he hasn't already bought the card, tell him to hold out on that until a couple weeks before HL2 is due. The new ATI cards will be out soon, so the not-brand-new cards will fall in price by a lot in a couple months.

[EDIT] Almost forgot: It's a really good card, but again if he hasn't bought one yet, make sure to wait and try to get a 9800XT or X800, or a 9800 256MB.

Yeah, it's a really great card. But if I were you i'd tell him to wait untill Half-Life 2 is just about to get released before buying it.

He has already bought it, but my brother said that there was problems with this card as it didnt support some games

It does support all games, atleast I haven't heard anything about it not supporting a game. And I follow hardware somewhat

that is what I have.. However, if he can wait and has the money to spend, the x800 Pro is going to be seriously faster. I would really wait until after E3 and we know when it's coming out. My $.02.

I have the exact same card running right now, and it works great, so no worries there. :cheers:

And about those prices, I doubt they'll drop much, by the time HL2 is out, the supply is running out (it's not being manufactured anymore IIRC) and prices go up again. I don't think it'll drop below EUR 175 (it's 190 now here)

ATI will leave the 9800pro as it is for now.
They will run the X800 as top of the line.
9800 in the middle with the 9600 below.
