For those of you who enjoy articulated, and brilliant animes that also boast truly intellegtual dialogue; Heaven is almost here. Sometime during 2004, the sequel to "The Ghost In The Shell'' will be released.
Those of us who became enthralled with the first will, with abosulutely no doubt, fall in love with the second. You D/L find the official trailer here.

EDIT: Though this was announced long ago, this is the first footage I've actually encountered. Enjoy!

Hmm... i've heard about this anime but i never saw it.

It's not very popular here.

The first GITS was great, but like many anime I thought it was too short. And I only watched it once so I never really understood it. Will this one continue on from the first? It'd be pretty cool if she kicked some arse in the schoolgirl suit, maybe why it's called innocence? K I'll stop assuming here :)

It's set many years past the original. You really should D/L the trailer; more impressive than I expected.

Watch azumanga daioh.

and I hope you just don't watch anime off tv or something, unless by chance you get tokyo tv but do you ever watch subbed only japanese anime?

Just about everything I watch is subbed. I happen to watch some shows like Big O, Trigun and Inu Yasha on tv, but that's because I get that for free. I won't go out and rent/buy subbed anime, when I can get it in English for free. But some shows are wonderfully dubbed; like Trigun, Big O, FLCL,Kenshin, etc. Anyway; No, I don't just watch anime off of the tv. I don't see how I could all of those anyway, barely any of them come on the tv.

That's probably the weirdest trailer I ever saw.

I liked the first movie though ...

How do you think I watch so much anime? ;)

I used rent/buy because I do a lot of reanting as well. For the most part, tough; I D/L my anime.

OMG!!! I can't believe I forgot Akira!
Dragon Ball Z is pretty good, but I don't see it being worth my HDD space...except for the Majin Buu saga. As far as Silent Mobius goes; It's cool and all, but the dialogue is really monotone...kind of like Crest Of The Stars. /me shivers.

I love japan, on vhs cassetes you can rent some anime and it has an 18+ warning in 6pt font.

You know, I watched Ghost in the Shell not long ago, but I found this problem with it or myself, I felt NOTHING for the main character. I don’t know why, but I didn’t care if she dies or not. But man, it had nice animation and atmosphere. Now I am watching this trailer and I am truly amazed with animation once again, these guys just that good.

P.C. Thinking about it, maybe I didn’t get attached to the main character, because everything happened so fast?

i generaly dont like anime at all..

but GITS and Cowboy-Bebop are big exceptions in that i love those 2 peices of work extremely. Very good shit rite there and it doesn't involve lame mechs or spells or japan blowing up.

If you like those, you'd very much enjoy Evangelion. Evangelion is like the holy grail on Anime.

BTW: For those of you who don't know; ADV films is shooting a live action trilogy of Evangelion, right now. At first I thought it would be your typical, straight to DVD release...But it turns out that Weta(Company that did the CGI for the LOTR trilogy) will be doing the CGI for these films as well. It sounds like quite the large project. Let's hope the don't crucify it.

Yes, Fender, Adult Swim does kisk ass.

In addition, Akira and Ninja Scroll are also up for live action remakes.

I am just afraid that Hollywood will make that stupid trend to make over all popular anime into movies, but crappy movies. Oh well, maybe otakus will become cool and DDR will be installed in every nightclub.

I had heard about Ninja Scrolls, but nothing about Akira. Hmm...I bet these movies will also be backed by a large amount of dough.

Akira

Production company - Warner Bros.

Director - Stephen Norrington(Blade, LXG) was lined up for the job, however he has since decided to give up Hollywood and is no longer directing it. James Robinson(LXG) is writing the script.

Ninja Scroll - Threshold Entertainment(Mortal Kombat)

Due out some time in 2004 last i heard.

*EDIT

James Cameron is also doing a Battle Angel Alita live action remake. And Chett Thomas(Minority Report) is doing Lupin III.

Thanks Spock, I forgot all about the Lupin III series and movie. Someone should make a movie based on the Hellsing series. Except make it even darker than it is now.

If anybody wan't a sweet anime to watch, Azumanga Daioh was licenced a while ago and is now on dvd, It's got no blowing up japan or mechs :D

Americans don't understand anime. My prediction, as usual, is that the movies are gona suck.
