I will be visiting both of the universities within the next couple of months to help me base my decision, however I would like to know what the peoples of HL2.net think of these two cities in comparison, as I haven't thoroughly explored Edinburgh and I havent visited Glasgow.
So, anyone who's been to either city, what do you think?

You'd never be able to understand what the hell the people are saying in Glasgow with that accent.

My grandad is scottish :D
I've heard somewhere, that if you move somewhere and you like it, then you pick up the local accent slowly.
Well my grandad must bloody hate england!! :P

Glasgow - I got arrested in Edinburgh within a couple of hours of arrival.

Glasgow. I've been to Edinburgh and it's a complete ****hole. I've not been to Glasgow, but i'm an optimist.

Can we judge them by their website slogans then??

Edinburgh: Inspiring capital
Glasgow: Scotland, with style!

Glasgee wins round 1

Google Fight gives it a close match, but Glasgow is the clear cut winner.

How much more convincing do you need?

I'll make a wild guess and say... punching a police officer and stealing his cuffs.

....then stealing the police car and cruising round the city commiting various crimes and killing random civilians.
GTA is a bad influence?

3:3!!?!?! The poll results arent helping! Like google fight!

Edinburgh, really nice city, lots of pubs and culture. If you're into that sort of thing. I always have a good time when I visit.

Herriot-Watt isn't really near the centre iirc. Feath will know.

Haven't been to Glasgow much, but it doesn't really have a good reputation from what I've heard.

Heriot watt is at the nice western area of the city.
However, Glasgow university is at the nice western part of Glasgow!

Herriot Watt is fine, I've been there (only on karate tournaments mind you), but access to the city isn't so bad, and the nightlife in Edinburgh is excellent.

What do people tend to think about the university?
What do people think about Glasgow university?

I dont have clue, being in the middle of nowhere.

Hitler left Edinburgh cause he wanted it! So ain't that a better reason than any to vote Edinburgh?

Well, whereever you go you'll be exposed to the great Scottish sense of humour.

"Give me your wallet or I'll cut you!"

 those funny guys :E

Just respond with a witty, "No thanks, I'm emo. I cut myself."

EDINBURGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because I live there, and plus, we have Edinburgh Castle that you can see from the main shopping area in town.
See pic here:http://www.m-j-s.net/photo/cd04/b/cd04-bimg0033.jpg

The funny thing about that pic is that there's loads of commercial stores right behind you like Game, Virgin etc etc.

Also, to all the Americans, it's pronounced Eh-din-buh-ruh, or Eh-din-bruh, NOT Eh-din-burg.

stardog is an edinburger!
wherebouts joo live? which side?

glashow is nice, my cousins are scottish, but it's like the small town compared to a city. edinborough is a city. and let me just say that the edinborough festival is the most amazing month you'll spend in that city. for one month the entire place is like a huge party, you can walk around on your own and never be lost for someone to talk to. you see plays, go clubbing, have drinks with random people, it's really great. go there.

i went to both, albeit when i was 16 or so. Edinburgh was a really nice city, the architecture, edinburgh castle, the nightlife is supposed to be pretty good, the uni is pretty well known too, prestige FTW?

glasgow was a bit of a dump tbh :/

from what I've heard, Edinburgh looks pretty + full of tourists.
Glasgow doesn't look as pretty + full of scots
