I'm actually kind of worried, not about Obama - I'm sure he has that in the bag, but about Prop 8.

Just so you all know, prop 8 is an amendment to California's constitution that would make same-sex marriages unrecognizable by the state.

On one hand, I realize that this is California, after all. One of the most liberal states. But on the other, the church is united. I'm quite sure that far more people who want to vote yes on prop 8 (end gay marriage) will turn out as opposed to those who want to vote no (keep gay marriage).

Basically, while I think that more people are for gay marriage, the prop will pass because such a hardcore few care so much about it.

Thoughts? Am I wrong in this assumption? I don't know much about political polls but this is the only thing I can see happen.

Don't think Obama has it in the bag. People cannot become complacent. They have to vote! Obama *WILL* lose this election if too many people think he has it in the bag and end up not voting.

So if you haven't voted, and if you are going to vote for Obama, please get out there and vote today!

As for your proposition 8 subject matter... I have no comment on that. Hopefully though gay people are allowed to get married.

I could care less about gay marriage at the moment, and it's definitely not something that is keeping me up at night lol, and honestly, I probably will never care that much about it until we have considerably less problems.

Gay Marriage is a petty problem, especially at the moment tbh. I realize they should have the right to get Married by state (not church), but it's really not a big deal right now.

If they were rounding up gays and exporting them, that'd be another thing.

I'm gonna try to make it to the polls. Despite rapeload of work waiting for me.

I'm not worried about prop 8, I am confident that the general public has gotten enough information to make the right choice in their mind.

What I am worried about are some other props, like props 4,5 and 6. These props never received nowhere the same amount of attention as prop 8, but requires a lot because these props can easily be interpreted totally different from what their real aim is.

Dude Obama completely has this election won. Don't trouble yourself in waiting in line to vote. He already has it won!!

Wait...so you're gay?

I voted like two weeks ago!

Not everyone that wanted equal rights in the 60s for blacks was actually black. This is no different.

And even a bunch of racists were for blacks to be freed from slavery.

You see, this is exactly what conservatives did in 2000 and 2004 to increase voter turnout among the religious right. Some states with more conservative legislatures decide to put these propositions on the election ballot precisely because it will encourage the religious right to come out and vote in full force on the issue. This happened in Ohio in 2004, and it is happening again in California in 2008.

Their real agenda isn't just to get gay marriage banned (though that is part of it), it is to win more seats for the republican party, because anyone going to the polls just to vote on a gay marriage, (or abortion, for that matter), proposition is likely to vote a straight republican ticket.

Generally these things aren't huge issues in the actual debates and in the candidate's policy initiatives, but they are thrown in at the last minute just to get people riled up and ready to vote. For instance, only today, on Nov.4, a pro-life group came to my campus and set up 3,400 tiny crosses all over campus to represent the "unborn americans killed under roe vs. wade", and then had huge signs up saying "Vote Mccain for Life."

It's simply emotional trickery to get people to vote a straight republican ticket come election time.

I agree with you but in this case I don't think McCain stands a chance in picking up California.

Sure, but republican representatives certainly do stand a chance of picking up districts in California.

.

this is insane, that would never fly in canada. It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some people are

Nope.

You'd have to pay me $1,000 to kiss a dude.

But it is immoral to infringe upon others, simply because it is not something that *I* would do.

Don't lie, the cat's out the bag, Top Secret loves teh cock.

Well, it wouldn't matter now anyways.

Prop 8 passed.

How shameful.
