Not sure how many folks here will care about this, but a few days ago GYBE announced they're ending their 7-year long hiatus to play some shows at the end of this year (and curate ATP). The only thing I can think of to compare this to, is something akin to 3D Realms announcing that their company is reforming and DNF will be released. Except GYBE playing again is like 10 million times better than that.

Apparently there is/was a mad rush for ATP tickets. They're supposed to be playing some other shows in Europe, and 9 shows in US (not yet announced, supposedly will be put on cstrecords.com sometime). I'd guess New York and Philly are two of those. Man I wish I lived someplace cool.

o_O well **** me!
this is great news! except for limited venues...that sucks. but damn it's awesome they're finally back! hopefully they've settled their personal little disputes and have come back together!

I wasn't aware they had any personal disputes :p. Always assumed they quit because they ran out of ideas or just got tired of it.

i can only assume it was because they're all such hardheaded assholes that they ended up having issues with each other. they were a pretty scary band to interview from what i hear. very dominating males in that band

already got my tickets for ATP as soon as they went on sale the other night. i was planning on going to that ATP anyway because it was ace last year, this just sold the deal. 7 berth chalet with the same guys i went to 10 yr anniversary with. it's going to be mental.

i am actually giddy with excitement.

what's really funny is that the night before it happened me and my friend came back from town really drunk and talked about gybe/mt. zion et all for a few hours, talking about our favourite records and stuff, what mt. zion are like live and how it's a crying shame that we'll never see gybe live.

SO STOKED.

wish i could go, stuck in pittsburgh for the while. i went to ATP last year for Nightmare Before Christmas, MBV was mind blowing

Just shows or have they said anything about an album? :(

Just shows, no word on an album. Though one can always hope :p

i doubt they'll do another album, though i can hope also

Why did I have to choose the uncoolest city to live in??? What were all the wrong decisions I made that led me to this moment? Who will drive me to DC? AUGHHHH.

Ahem.

So, US and Vancouver tour dates were just announced.

There have also been a bunch of Europe dates up which you can find for yourself if you are interested in such.

[late edit]
Bought 3 tickets to DC. It's gonna be awesome.

Am I really the only person on these boards going to a US show?! D:
*Delusions that everyone in the world loves godspeed... shattered*

it was ****ing amazing. they played three sets for all three nights, i went to a whole set on friday and had my mind melted by swellingly beautiful movements and stayed for half the set on the saturday, because my friend was tired and wanted to get some sleep so we headed back. i would of gone to the third but they changed the stage time to an earlier slot whilst i was asleep, but ah well.

yeah, it was something special, though. monumental, even. i cannot for the life of me remember or even comprehend the setlist, but i know the friday date opened with storm and finished with bbf3 - notable not just as being a phenomenally good song, but during the section of the quote about when the man is yelling at the judge i saw two guys with their hands held high shouting along to ''you think you're god because you have a robe and you can put people up the god damn river for 20 years? well you're not!" and ****, not gonna lie, i shed a tear. it was stunning.

they were a sight to behold, truly, and if ever a band really started to mean something to me after i had seen them live, where i see them in a new light, it's godspeed.

awesome + thanks for posting that! + really good to hear + excited

Damn, they're playing in Dublin tonight. Had no idea.

Fuking exam in the mo at 9am.

:( and :( to both.

Reminds me of the first year I was in Austin and Explosions had a sold out show. A friend whom I'd introduced to the band got a spare ticket from some guy he knew, but I didn't get one. I totally cried. Hope you handled it better :p, and that they make it back around.
