So, my brother has tasked me with finding a new coop game or two so we can play while he's in college on the other side of the country. Preferably shooters, and either fairly recent, new, or upcoming in the next year. (Left for Dead has caught my eye, but I don't know its release date...)

For reference, we've played and beaten to death:
Quake 2
Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear, & Raven Shield (Mainly Rogue Spear, Sargasso Fade/Majestic Gold missions=sex)
Most D&D RPGs, which we didn't really like playing (they get boring)
World of Warcraft (Both on the verge of quitting this from boredom)
Might be some other shooters, but yeah, anyone know of other fun games with coop SP multiplayer?

Short version: Looking for PC, internet-viable, Coop play (Us vs AI), genre preferably FPS, though Action-RPG would be okay too. Tactical better than not (Note the Rainbow Six series in the list above)

Faces of War is decent but laggy. If you realllly want to go the path of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, be prepared for many a frustration.

In general there is a saddening lack of good co-op games out there these days.

WoW does not count as a co-op game lol
any rts like command and conquer or age of empires will do.
for fps i would choose a rainbow six or ghost recon game.
mmorpgs can be very boring so i wouldn't recommend

Swat 4 and it's expansion, Stetchkov Syndicate.

I'd like to imagine L4D would be release alongside the Orange box, or perhaps a little later. The sooner the better as far as I'm concerned.

Serious Sam.
Unreal Gold.
If you have an XBOX, Halo 1.
Last Man Standing mod for Doom 3.
Battlefield 1942 can be pretty fun with co-op, despite the AI being fairly retarded.

Get Ghost Recon + every expansion.

GRAW is good but buggy.

*Edit* Operation Flashpoint + followups. Fun but buggy.

not tried armed assault but might be worth a looksee.

Don't bother with ArmA. It's a good game, but you won't be able to run it.

Lucid, there's also the OpenCoop mod for Doom 3. By the way, there's also Serious Sam 2. OFP is definetely a good coop game! But you need to get the expansion called Resistance for it.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Raven Shield are great fun to play co-op. SWAT4 too.

Yes, SWAT4 should definitely be on the list.

Oh? Never tried it.

Also, don't bother with Serious Sam 2, it's shit.

Battlefield 1942. You and one or two friends vs. 40-50 bots. It's lots of fun, seriously, but could be laggy for the host.

I can't believe 7 posts into this thread and System Shock 2 has not been mentioned.

Get the game- get it patched for co-op- get the patch to allow it to run on Windows XP and get creeped out.

:D

WOW, that's possible! that would be so sweet.

Doh, forgot to put SS2 on the list of games I've played. A great game, but it is kinda ruined by coop. Becomes easy as hell, and not very atmospheric, scary, etc when you're with a friend.

Thanks for the help guys, gonna hunt down my CDs of ghost recon which have vanished, and pick up Swat 4.
