I'm talking pre-80's I guess.

Guns Of Navarone
The Desert Fox
Where Eagles Dare
f.e

Can be any war but prefarably WW2/WW1.

A Bridge Too Far is probably my favourite WWII movie, closely followed by The Longest Day. Fantastic films.

War of the worlds :P

joking

Zulu; like tower defence, but funnier :p

These are the two movies I thought of when I read the OP. Also Das Boot, if that's old enough (early 80s I think?).

M*A*S*H :p

The Longest Day is my personal favorite, captures the epic scope of the beach landings so well.

Patton is my second favorite, George C. Scott was fantastic... he was awesome in everything he starred in.

A Bridge Too Far is my third, the action and intensity of it was great.

Runner ups include... Midway, Tora! Tora! Tora!, Guns of Navarone(watched it like 9 years ago... barely remember it except that it stars Gregory Peck.), and Flying Tigers(John Wayne ftw.).

Oh, I forgot about Tora! Tora! Tora! and figured Patton went without saying. A new addition: The Great Escape.

Really I love all the plethora of old 60s/70s WW2 movies, but my favorite war movies altogether are the recent WW2 ones, Band of Brothers and SPR.

I was going to mention The Great Escape as it's an all time favourite of mine. It's a film I never get bored of watching.

Bridge on the River Kwai. Can't remember anything else besides SPR.

Where Eagles Dare.

I know it's been mentioned but still, much <3.

Dirty Dozen/Kelly's Heroes

Great Escape too, because any movie with Steve McQueen is automatically the greatest movie ever
